Hate to sound like a P***y, . . . .

JOWS6

I am banned!
. . . but I have an MRI scheduled for Saturday and was wondering if you guys could share your experiences. Not nervous about the procedure but the "what-if-they-find-something" mentality.

I had low FSH, and LH scores along with a conservative prolactin level. I have no headaches ('cept when subjected to hot rooms) or changes in vision so hopefully everything is normal. Even if not, I've been reading that 10-25% of the population have pituitary abnormalities unbeknownst to them.

I guess you'll find out. I think a large % of people have non malignant lumps/bumps in thier heads/bodies. My mom had one the size of a greatfruit in her head they had to cut out.

Let us know how it goes, I'll be getting one in a few months also (because i have "lumpy" genetics).

PUSSY!

Just kidding bro. Dude, You gotta understand something.... No matter how many tests you have performed on any and EVERY aspect of your body, if some kind of illness wants to rear its ugly head, and fuck your whole world up, IT WILL. You can have a GAZILLION different tests done on your body, inside and out, come away with a clean bill of health, then get hit by a fucking garbage truck taking your trash (or ex-fiance') to the curb! You openly told us all in prior posts that you have suffered from severe anxiety disorders from past experiences and that you are a hypochondriac. Now, I've personally talked to you. I don't think that you are a hypochondriac. I think you are a young dude that is battling some demons that seem to get the better of you at times. This isn't ME divulging any of your personal or private information, these are all areas of your life that you have opened up to all the bro's on this forum in search of straightening some things out. You really need to find a way to chill, bro. Maybe these words will help....

"GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN, AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE".

Thanks Chip.

. . But if I do have an abnormal growth wouldn't it be the correct approach to treat the growth with medication and see if the Testosterone levels rise before going on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)?

I also suspect I may have Hypothyroidism based on my TSH lab value of 2.99 (Ref. Range: .5 - 4.0). My mom has hypothyroidism and since it's somewhat hereditary, chances are upon further testing, I may have it as well. I am also considering treating my thyroid before going on TRT.

Trust me, I am eager as hell to feel better. Basically, I worry that I may jeapordize my natural production of testosterone (even though it's non-existant) by pulling the trigger when all was needed was thyroid medication. After carefully reading up on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and it's benefits, I would like to go on a protocol but a lifetime of injections of various compounds, routine lab tests, possible donation of blood, and the cost of treatment would rather be avoided if possible.

For example, if you were obese, would you quickly opt for gastric-bypass surgery to be the end-all treatment or would you try exhausting all other options before dialing that number? Yes, I am a young dude, and really, really, really research everything. You should see me when I order parts for my car! I spend a lot of hours reading up on performance parts and even more so when it comes to my body.

they might be checking for a pituitary tumor, which from what I read a lot of people have them and they are not life threatening

JOWS6, let me give you a practical piece of advice when it comes to the actual MRI procedure. The number one 'discomfort' of having an MRI is claustrophobia. When they slide you into the machine it can feel very close to your face. Of course the machine is open on both ends, and is perfectly safe. But when you're in it, you don't see that. My advice (and I've had this done twice now), is to close your eyes BEFORE they slide you in, and KEEP THEM CLOSED no matter what. They will talk to you through an intercom as they proceed with different phases of the test. The only other thing you really have to contend with is the machine is VERY loud. And so honestly, the best thing to do, is keep your eyes closed, and set your mind on something you enjoy. A piece of music, or some scene in your past that you want to replay in your mind that you enjoy.

NOTHING will happen to you of course, this is a VERY VERY safe and totally non invasive procedure, it's all about keeping your mind occupied while they go through the cycles. In a weird so of way it's kind of fun and scifi like.

I hope everything turns out ok for you!!!! :)

Excellent breakdown of the MRI procedure and machine redBALLS

Trust me JOWS6... I truly have nothing but respect for YOU and all of the knowledge you have acquired throughout your journey..:beertoast

As for the noise that will be kicked out from the MRI machine... Don't sweat it... It will be no where near as loud as the voices inside your head!! :wallbash:

KEEP US POSTED.

Wear eye patch the ones meant for sleeping they supplied them for me in OZ.
Take some ear plugs as well, sounds like your in a machine gun, bit freaky but doesn't hurt, and they give you a panic button to hold.:tounge2:

hey man, I registered here as you suggested in your message to me on youtube.

1. If your prolactin levels aren't sky high, doesn't that mean that you're unlikely to have a pit. gland tumor?

2. I've had an MRI when I was in my late teens, I thought it was pretty cool.

3. If they do find something, you go into battle mode where you fully accept what you have and do everything you can to get rid of it. It's like if you break your leg, the more you fight the pain, the worse it will be, but if you accept the pain and the whole experience, the task becomes continueing to move forward (get to the hospital, get it fixed up, get a cast, get the cast off, go through rehab.... etc.)

4. In your restart thread, I'm pretty sure you nailed it: it's to get the balls working again and is usually done temporarily until they get up to speed.

Hey lowtguy! Glad to see you registered per my recommendation!

It seems logical that if our prolactin levels are in a normal range that it suggests no abnormal growth but I could be wrong. Plus, there are other various abnormalities within the pituitary such as shifting, lengthening, etc. (I believe) that could skew your testosterone production while not increasing prolactin levels. Again, I'm not sure - I do a ton of reading and it's hard to catch every physiological component.

RipRockWell: I recieved your PM but private messaging never worked on my end. I sent you a reply but when I checked my sent box, there was nothing sent.

Email me at Jaymzstar@aol.com so we could contact each other since the PM's don't work for me.

I did a mri a few months ago for my back...I barely fit in the damn thing so it felt like a coffin...i was soaking with sweat by the time I got out cuz I was so damn nervous in there...next time I'll pop some xanax or something to stay calm in there

You CAN request a machine that they call an "OPEN MRI". It's just what it says it is. I personally can't even get my shoulders into a regular MRI machine. Open machine is excellent.

This is what I was going to suggest. The good news is the MRIs now go a lot faster than they used to.

Pleased to announce that the results from the MRI was negative. Thankfully, there is no pituitary abnormality. One down, one more to go; need to perform a sleep study to determine if I have sleep apnea which could also account for my low testosterone scores. Pending the results from the sleep study, I will be making a call to Chip to pull the trigger.
