Help: different exercises for upper & lower chest

LIVING THE DREAM
Hey guys, this is what I'm thinking. As I continue getting bigger and stronger I'm noticing that my chest is looking a little thicker, but not longer if that makes sense (looking at pictures of Jay, Arnold, Ronnie, you can notice that there chests are very long in diameter).

I want to start focusing on getting my chest longer in diameter and I'm thinking if I can learn the difference between what exercises works specifically those areas it will do the trick rather than me just going to the gym and going through the motions of doing the regular chest exercises; incline, decline, bench, cables, blah blah blah.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated on how to make my chest grow in this way and learning the difference betweeen the exercises in doing this.

Thanks again~

i like to go from flat press to reverse wide grip press to target the upper chest and tie ins to the shoulder. then some flys targeting lower pecs. i finish some with low to high and high to low cable and/or band work.

the reverse grip bench press done lower on the chest with a wide grip will engage your upper chest much more than an incline press, while minimizing shoulder involvement also. i switch it up between bb and db by day usually when it comes to chest day.

the diameter of your chest is most dictated by your genetics though. if your muscles are more compact up there, they will tend to stay that way and just grow out, not up and down.

EZ- Thanks, I'm def. going to incorporate some reverse grip exercises I sorta forgot about those to be honest.

What started this thread is me looking at Jay C. at age 15 or 20 (forget which) but his chest was normal (not long in diameter at all), then a few years later BOOM! His shit grew long and wide. I really just want that look of a wide and long chest if at all possible for my body type.

I really think my problem is that I do more strength training than actual bodybuilding. I can outlift most in my gym (even the big big guys). I think my priorities have changed from strength to body shaping.

For a bro like Jay, I think his chest is so "wide" looking because his frame is huge, like his shoulders are very far apart giving his chest the same wide look. I've become a really big fan of EZ-bar close grip flat bench, works my tri's great and helps me contract the pecs really hard, also become a fan of tate presses. I think what will work best for you, is to do the exercises that really get your chest pumped up leaving you with the big pumped feeling and making it easier for you to methaphorically "grab" alot of that pec and contract really hard, and once you get there, incorporate whatever exercises you want contextual to that pec group (upper, lower, mid). For me personally, hitting DB or BB bench first, then a good pump up chest exercises, then I move to an exercise that targets what I'm looking for developmental wise. Since we both came from similiar weights I'll mention stretch marks, if you havn't gotten some already you might want to start rubbing some vitamin E or something. I wish I had. Just trying to be helpful bro, want to put my fuck up in your last thread behind us. Reps.

think big eat big, gain 245 pounds mean while bench heavy and alot of heavy dumbbell flys,oh don't forget decline incline too and alot of military press. Focus big !

Roug- Thanks for the input. Don't worry about the last post in the other thread you were just giving your input. I just get pissy sometimes with certain Ology members (mostly newbies) when they try to stir shit up for no reason. However, you pertake in the board and have been here for a while so any input is noteworthy from you.

As far as stretch marks I have been very lucky and don't have any. Which is good but bothers me because it means that I'm not growing quickly as I would like.

I hear that, mine are pretty bad....literally the only thing I like about them is that I can tell. After 3 months and they look different, or they fade kinda pinkish then get aggrivated and go purple I know it's a good sign.
