hi! i'm new here and have just started working out last monday. My problem is my shoulder hurts especially when i move them extensively. I worked out all parts of my body and the pain i feel on other parts seems tolerable compared to the shoulders. does this mean that i did anything wrong? what can i do to help alleviate the pain?thnx a lot.

First of all welcome.

The pain is normal, but its only that bad in the begining try some asprin and/or ice.

Next, you should read up in the training area for a good routine.

Good luck and Good lifting.

It's really normal. Heck, I, myself, enjoy the pain. I dunno, maybe bec I could feel the hardness of my muscles..:)

How to alleviate the pain? A good warm shower and followed by a gently massage. :) Works for me..:)

But seriously, you should get a new program. It's not like everyday you'll be doin all the programs all at once..:)

You'll get used to it...

Oh the pain..IT FEEL FREAKING GREAT!!!!!

By the way, where are you from? I'm from Caloocan.

When I have not trained in a long while I do about 20% of a normal routine, so I might suggest circuit training with MODERATE weights before you start going hardcore.

If this is really your first lifting experience, start out slow, learn the movements, before you let your ego take control and you hurt yourself only setting you back.

I don't think you can stress this point enough.

I've seen guys with pencils for arms, I'm talking maybe 8", using their knowledge of physics and momentum to get a dumbbell or barbell up.

thats why he should be doing core movements to start out with. add iso's later if need be. start light and work up. you got the rest of you life to do this. i see um come in the gym all the time. gungho for two weeks then never come bacxk cause they get discouraged. lack of knowledge of lifting.

Shoulder pain is not a good thing.

You are probably doing a lift that aggravtes them, or performing a lift incorrectly. Or just overworking yourself.

Post your routine.

during the first day at the gym, the fitness trainer gave me a routine. The routine basically tells me to use much of the gym's equipment. i train all of my body parts using 3 X 12. Is this an ok way to start out? usually the weightsthat i could lift are 20 and 45 only. the trainer told me not to try heavier weights since i am only starting out.

What pb is saying is focus on lifts like squats, deadlifts, chins/pullups and benches. Exercises that use many muscles, and not something like dumbbell curls.
