How are my shbg levels?

My very first test through maximus they came in at 28.1. That is before I started my protocol.

I wanted to know because I know CJW is always pushing the importance of keeping healthy SHBG levels?

Well mine were 55 and I couldn't get out of bed even on test. A young healthy male will have a 15 shbg or thereabout, maybe even slightly lower. SHBG will get driven up over time as seen in old men. Environmental xenoestrogens drive them up too...

The importance of a low SHBG is to block the xenoestrogens and estrogens in your body and elevate free testosterone. It is the secret to feeling good on TRT. I keep mine low all the time for this purpose.

Thanks, CJW. So I take it that mine being at 28.1 is not good. What can I do to lower my levels to healthy 15 or below

well we were using stanazolol...now apparently the pharms no longer have it due to the fda. danazol will temp lower it. 28.1 is a lot better than 55+. It's not that bad, not perfect tho.

You sure? people on other forums have told me my SHBG level of 13 is too low and it could be because of a thyroid problem/insulin problem/cortisol problem

Positive. 13 is good. There is a lot of bad info on the net that is repeated by parrots. This knowledge comes from another doc who has been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) longer than most people and treated tons of people for high shbg.

I'm sure there are low shbg disorders, but 13 I don't think qualifies for that.

Ok, well maybe im quite an unusual case i dont know. I have very high estrogen 150 pmol but low SHBG which is apparently rare because peoples SHBG is usually high if their Estrogen is.

Well from my understanding you could have a high aromatiztion of estrogen and it still not be binding in, but be detectable in the blood. I'm not sure about that though. In any event you need an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) with estrogen levels that high if I am thinking of the same scale where the range is 0-50, under 30 being ideal. Are you fat? You may not be feeling the estrogen stress due to your low shbg, though if you have low T too who knows.

Serum Testosterone Level: 16.4/482 nmol/L (8.0 - 30.0)

SSHBG: 13 nmol/L (13.0-71.0)

Serum Oestradiol Level: 149 pmol/L (<= 150.0)

Serum Prolactin level: 111 mu/L (<= 550.0)

Yes im fat (i gain fat so easy its unreal) 6ft maybe 210-220 lbs id guess..

Your testosterone will rise when there is less estrogen in your body. Perhaps an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) alone would help you. The upper ranges for estrogen in men's labs are ridiculously high.

Agreed. That + some additional weight loss and I'd avoid anything that converts to estro or that the body uses or recognizes as such (huge list of foods, plastics etc).

Mopar, can you elaborate on the food list of things that convert to estrogen.. I'm a big dude also and I would like to do anything natural I can to bring down my e2.. Taking higher doses of arimidex scares me a bit for long time use..

Letro is my new favorite Aromatase inhibitor (AI). I doubt 2.5 mgs of letro a week will do much harm to your lipid profile. Probably more harm will be done by having high estrogen. That and you aren't getting any benefits if your E2 is high or you have a propensity to aromatize a lot of the test to estrogen.
