how long are you at the gym?

for instance today is chest:

4 - 5 sets of incline
4-5 sets dumbell press
3 sets flat bench
3 - 4 sets dumbell pull over
3 - 4 sets cable fly's
3 sets vertical press
4 - 5 sets of 25 - 30 rope crunchs

then abs
and calvs

i rest about 1.5 - 2 min in between.

I do 3-4 sets of 4 of your chest exercises and get that done in 1 hour with a 2 minute rest inbetween... There is no way in hell the resf of what you have written down take you another 2 hours... BTW, yes, you are over training. 3-4 exercises per bodypart is enough.

Also, just curious.. Why do you have no decline? IMO, cut out the flat bench all togeather and do inclince bench, decline dumbell press, then next week switch, decline bench, inclined dumbell press.
 
i used to hang around gyms, running from 2-4 hours. that involves a lot of chit chats and stuff.

as time goes and became more experienced, i never go beyond 45 min - 1 hour

i'd be flexible with 1.5 hour if im going heavy. no chit chats, no nothing. just lift, rest, drink water, towel and cleaning the gym of leftover bars/plates.

besides, putting them back works the arms :p

I used to do alot of decline trying to shape my chest the way i want it but I have been noticing more of the shape im looking for with just doing flat and incline.

I also cut my work out down and im got a good routine now so im in and out with a normal time
 
For me is 1-1.5 hour, including 30-45 min cardio... Have a home gym, I love working out at home, no hassle with traffic, waiting to use equipment.

beatngyou27: do you do cardio during both your training sessions in the day? If so I'd suggest cardio in the morning, and training two muscle groups at night. But whatever works for you.

i recently tried out doing a boxing/jiu jitsu class for a week and was doing 1-2 hours of cardio and training but no i have been cutting down my work outs and just doing one or two muscle groups with a jog/stairs to get my heart rate up
