How many reps and why.

Mix , Mix , Mix I am always looking for a pump in any muscle I am using rather than just the weight. Some some weeks I will go 5 x 5. Then I will go with a step effect 1 set 10 heavy, next set drop the weight do 20 reps, then raise it again and do another 10. Then the next week back to the basics with 10 reps 8 reps and down to 4.

Never had any major lifting injury, except some tennis elbow.

A warm-up with light weight 15/20 reps to stretch out the group for the day and then anywhere from 3/4 sets with varible weight 12/10/8 or 6. Honestly I like switching up the program. One wk-dumbells one wk-machines and one wk- benches. Always do deadlifts and squats. I'm addicted to those things

I like to rotate between low, mid and high reps.

More volume for me seems to equal more growth, not a ton of strength, and low reps will build strength, mid reps is just a progression into higher reps if that makes any sense....

I always had it beat into me that the heavier you go the bigger you will be, but I think that there is a trade off there somewhere. Probably at different points for different people.
