They fucking rip my skin and make my hands look like I do construction for living. Today I did 450x5 460x4 470x3 480x2 500x2(trap bar). When I went home I popped like 10 blisters in both of my hands:redhot: . I even use gloves when I do them. Does anyone have the same problem? And is there anything I can do to keep some of my skin on?

Your gloves may be too loose and your hands are too soft, also I use gloves until my last lift, then I use hooked gloves to help me get a grip on the really heavy weight--getting your hands ripped up is part of the game. Deadlifts are so good for you don't give them up.

I will never give them up. But they are a pain.

let your hands callouse over and it should be all good.....if u wanna be a pretty boy...go join the fruits on the light end of the dumbell rack and chat up a storm in between sets....

My grip is acually starting to be the bottleneck for my Deads also. I do a 5x5 routine w/ them. For the first 2-3 sets I use nothing, no belt, no straps...until my grips starts coming into play and effected me.

Usually for the last 2 sets I put on straps just to get through it. But, Im building up the grip, it'll be here one day

This sounds really funny if you read it out loud with a real feminine lisp.

why don't you scrap the trap bar and start doing them conventially.

Bro, I am a football player. Trap bar was made for football players. You get a much better explosion doing the trap bar then the straight.

what's a trap bar????

And you should just do regular deadlifts bro. I use a thin towel wrapped around the barbell for my grip/comfort, because I'm not allowed to use chalk in my gym...

Don't bitch about rough hands, at least that makes you look like a real man;)

That's total bullshit. My gym supplies chalk :)

Agreed. If you're looking for explosive power, power cleans would be better than deads anyway.

Yes, I do regular cleans and I do clean & jerk and I have no problem with them. Just the deadlifts rip my skin. Thanks for the info bros

Noted, but why are you using deads for explosiveness anyway, their are a ton of better options. Deads are irreplaceable IMO for overall strenght, but i would think doing convential deads, and cleans would be more beneficial.

b/c every single college in the country uses trap bars for deadlifts in there football program. You have more balance with the trap bar and you can also do more weight .It is very good for explosion according to a football clinic. See in football the most important lifts are called core lifts.Thats bench, cleans, deadlifts, squads, jammer. They are mostly done for exploding of the line and power for us linemen.
