I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct section. I guess someone will move it to the correct one if not.
I'm 44 years old. 6ft 5in tall and I weigh around 105 kgs. Some years ago, I was a power lifter, but a very bad accident left me in a very bad condition for a long time.
Early this year, I started at the gym again. I'm not progressing as I should. I feel tired most of the time, I seem to be getting a "spare tyre" and I'm not getting much in the way of muscle.
I asked my doctor for a full blood test and I got it back from him yesterday. He says there is nothing wrong with me apart from my Cholesterol, but trying to compare these values with anything on the web or with other people is impossible because all the units are different.
Here is what I got back apart from the haematology :
Kidney Function
Urea - 38 mg/dl
Creatine - 1.07 mg/dL
Uric Acid - 4.2 mg/dL
Liver Functions
GOT - 17 U/L
GPT - 15 U/L
Gamma-GT - 38 U/L
LDR - 364 U/L
Lipids
Total Cholesterol - 241 mg/dL
HDL-Cholesterol - 45 mg/dL
Coronary Risk Factor - 5.4
TriGlycerides - 167 mg/dL
LDL-Cholesterol - 180 mg/dL
Ratio HDL:LDL - 4.0
Ions & Electrolytes
Sodium - 141 nmol/l
Potassium - 4.6 nmol/l
Chloride - 106 nmol/l
Bicarbonate - 27 nmol/l
ANION-GAP - 13 mEq/l
Inflammation
CRP Dosage - <3 mg/l
CRP Dosage - <0.3 mg/dl
Thyroid
TSH - 0.526 µg/ml
Hormones
LH - 4.4 U/L
FSH - 5.7 U/L
17-beta-estradiol - 15 ng/l
DHEA Sulphate - 121 µg/100
Total Testosterone - 400 ng/dl
SHBG - 0.99 µg/100
Free Testosterone Index - 4.04 Index
Tumor Markers
Prostate Specific Antigen - 1.37 µg/l
I'm not a doctor, so I have no idea what all of this means, only that I don't feel good. My wife and I had lots of problems and she left me, but my sex life is non-existent and to be honest, I don't have a lot of interest.
One of my friends says that my testosterone is low, but he has no idea what the Free Testosterone Index is all about. He says my thyroid isn't that good either. I have no idea.
I found this site on the web. I hope that someone here can help me out!
