I tore my miniscus last week at work. went to the orthopedic doctor today. looks like a torn miniscus. mri on monday. it is quite sore and swollen. kinda bimmin' me out, summer just gettin' here and all. anyways.....

what do you think i might be able to do lifting wise?
cardio type stuff seems out. i will have to experiment.
trying to think of ways to keep working while i recover, knee does not realy bend now. ideas are most apreciated.

I wouldn't do any lower body workouts at all. I'm not sure which meniscus is involved but there are ligamentous attachments to the menisci which will be stressed under certain loading conditions. This will only cause more damage to the area. Do your upper body workouts but avoid putting a lot of weight on the knee.

Upper body only, maybe one of those hand bikes for cardio. Thankfully, a meniscus surgery isn't *too* major, depending on how bad the tear is and what type of surgery they do. They probably won't immobilize it, and you need to work on, when you walk, maintaining normal stride and normal movement, as bad as you won't want to. This will help to keep from forming too much scar tissue and other things you don't want to happen in that joint.
