i know the most important part of growing muscle is resting. if your muscles dont rest they wont grow. i just restarted to work out and i am sore. Worked out this monday and i was going to work out a m,w,f routine for the first month and half and then drop maybe to a tues, thurs for heavier workouts after the first one month in a half. So can i work out when i am sore?? Plus does anyone know where is the cheapest place to buy olympic weights and a good set of dumbbells near los angeles. i only have 200 to spare.

Yes and no

YOu can work out when your sore so long as you abide by one of these two rules. #1The muscle group being worked is different than than the one your working -or- You go VERY light and use it basicly as a stretch/warmup and that's it. Doing that can actually aleiviate soreness.

the biggest thing is to just listen to your body ....go hard the days that you can and if you need to take a day off from training do it....overtraining is far more counterproductive than taking a day off.

the hardest part in weightlifting..and i'm implying in all kinds of lifts...is eating.

You said it! Eating is of premier importance it is the centerpiece of my entire program.

well i like doing full body work outs maybe thats wrong. well this is what i do. 8-12 leg curls (4-6sec up 4-6sec down) immediately followed by 8-12 leg ext (3-5 sec up 3-5 sec down plus hold last ext for 15 sec) followed by squat 3x10 rest 2 min followed by 5x5 bench followed by tricep ext. followed by negative only chin up (4-8 sec drop) rest 2 min followed by barbell rows, barbell curls (3sec up 3 sec down), negative dips (5sec down), finished with sit ups on a decline bench. will rotate squat with deadlifts on a week by week basis also flat bench with arm flies i guess. SO i kind of do the whole body i hate splits i hate working out so the least i have to see the weights the better. not that i am not determine to reach my goals. But like the best looking guy i ever met told me. chances are if you like working out you are probably doing it wrong! Not that my routine is anygood i just like it but if you guys have any pointers please do.
Maybe i need 2 off days for every work out

as far as sorness goes im thinking you are reffering to DOMS-delayed onset muscle sorness, and not acute pain from muscle tears. in which case you can work out as usual.

theres no real way to distinguish the difference often times. Other than how quick you feel the muscle pain IMO.

Well years ago when I tried to train when the muscle was still sore, I learned within a few weeks that the muscle is not as strong when still sore so I say dont do it.

go to sears for weights, they are pretty cheap, i saw a 300 lb set for less than $250

or try sportschalet, copelands any sporting goods store. or hit up a bunch of garage sales. just hustle and you'll find a good deal.

i have a 3 day split, but i dont made a schedule like m w f, i just have 2 rest days inbetween the lift days. so every week is a different day for each lift. on the rest days i will do cardio if i please.

the hardest part is actually consistency. but your right. in a macro sense eating is where most/all fail.
