infection at injection site? can it go away?

Ive been meaning to ask a doctor if you can really die from eating crap. I heard that our poo containes salmonila and ecoli. If thats true then all the times theres an ecoli outbreak its from crap getting into the food.

Old mark still scabbing up have something worse happening. I was using 23g needle for subcutaneous injection on upper right side of left knee. I went in about half inch and injected slowly. Upon pull out the needle an abnormal amount of blood escaped. It was about .25 ml of blood. I figured i hit a vein and put a bandaid on. After a week went by ive looked at it again and there is light swelling and bruising but no pain. There is some purple blotches of skin too which made me freak since this is a possible sign of infection. After reading up on punctured veins i found that it can heal without antibiotics and it can also lead to severe tissue damage.
