Infection in Quad ... best med?

Hi,

I seem to have developed an infection from injecting my quad with Testosterone - never had one before. Whats the best antibiotic to use? I really want to stay away from my Internist if at all possible.

Its starting to swell and get warm - seems to have taken a while to brew. Thanks.

No, its definitely not an abcess - rather more like a subcutaneous intramuscular low grade infection. Its been brewing for over a week and I have made subsequent injections in the other leg. In fact it seems to be responding to Keflex. I'll wait and hold off going to a Dr. only if I get no results with the Keflex. I've seen many surgical infections, and this seems like a minor version of that. The testosterone is locally custom compounded, so I'm not worried about that. I probably need to be a bit more careful in the future.

I just don't want to take what amounts to a whole day going to my local Dr. only to have him give me the same meds and tell me that my other Dr. shouldn't be giving me so much testosterone. Because I'm in my 50's he is obsessed with my enlarging my prostate to the size of a watermelon - like I wouldn't notice. I've got Cipro and Zithromax too - but most Dr.s seem to give Keflex for surgical infections - not that I'm sure they know why.

an abscess is an infection.
"subcutaneous intramuscular" ......under the skin in the muscle?

the gear is prescribed by a doc so nothing to hide, have a doc evaluate it.

keflex is exactly what the doctor would be giving you... both my infections they put me on it APO500 it works like a charm... 500mg 4x/day

keflax is about as good as it gets unless you have staph then you definatly got to go to the doc it is some serious shit

Thanks guys, it seems to be responding to Keflex 500mg 4/day quite nicely. I doubt that it is staph, or I would know by now.

I guess I should know better after all these years and use an alcohol swab. Thats what you get when you are in a hurry.

A compounding pharmacy is inferior to getting something like depo-testosterone or watson test cyp. The anecdotal evidence also backs this up ... you shouldn't be getting an infection from this injection unless you have a wasting disease.

Its testosterone cypionate 200mg/ml in sesame. I get a Dr. to give me all I want, all I have to do is order it though him and it comes from a decent compounding pharmacy. Basically you can get whatever you want medically, if you pay someone enough for it.

I have to admit I've been a bit lax about sterile technique. But I've learned my lesson.

AGREED WITH CRUSHERHOCKEY.....talk to your doc and mention it if that is the case..good luck

This this physician do a physical exam on you?

Sounds like you are using an online HRT clinic. Those places aren't legit. They could give a shit about your health.

Not an online clinic - a "real" one in my local area. I agree thaty couldn't give a shit about me - or they wouldn't be so lax in trying to give me all the meds I want for $$$. Then again, do you really think your local internist or other Dr's will really pay enough attention to take care of you? I don't think so.

Are you sure it is really an infection??? lately all my injections of test e give me that same reaction of swollen and heat yet it clears up in a few days.
