Infection & Meds

So I've routinely pinning myself for the past 5 yrs with never a problem. I ended up getting a delt infection (big red hard lump and fever etc). I was given Keflex (cephalexin) at 500mg 4 times a day. I've been taking it for 24 hours but the redness is spreading and my arm is become swollen down to almost my wrist. Has anyone been through this and how long does it take for the medicine to show some effects?

Glad to hear it is getting better. Friend of mine recovered pretty quick but he also drained the puss from the abscess. Might want to do that if it ever happens again (hope it doesn't though).

Yup! keflex takes a few days to get thru your bloodstream......but it works everytime...

What do you tell your doctor/physician if you get an infection? Do you admit to using AAS? Or do you just show up and show him the spot and tell him you "somehow" got an infection...

I got that redness and raised injection spot 2wice!

What I said was I was napping on da couch felt a sharp pain, and said one of my gfs sewing needles was stuck in there...... it worked! now I have enough on hand if it happens again:0

I never had one, but I have treated others. Sometimes it takes a week to see results with the antibiotics.

You can always say nothing happened, people can develop abscesses from nothing. Or a bee sting/ spider bite. Who cares they are all treated the same way. But seriously, your dr knew you were lying... and if he/she didnt, you need to switch doctors.
