It took me 4 months to figure this out!

They are not kidding when they say it takes a long time to figure out your own body!

I have been bbing since I was 14, (7 years now). 4 Months ago I started training chest twice per week because it is my lagging body part. Well bros, you can trust me, twice per week is over doing it even if you think it is not.

Here is an example: I trained chest on friday and I did close grip bench press 315lbs for 7 reps which is normal for me. 3 days later on monday, I did normal bench press and only got 7! I usually get 10!

I had no energy before my monday chest workout, I didnt feel like training and I could not get pumped up to do my set properly. Now I gotta wait until next monday to work chest again and start working it once per week like every other body part.

I thought I would let you guys know my new discovery.

:D

G_M.....did you notice any positive effects in say the first two months of twice a week? Did you always go heavy both workouts? I've done variations of twice a week for a bodypart, one lighter, high reps and the other low reps, heavy weight, with questionable results.

Well with me I know only once per week is my max. Everyone is different.

I triend heavey/light, heavy/heavy etc, im still over trained with twice per week.

Even abs is once per week for me.

Everyone is different, and a lot of it depends on how much work you do (volume and intensity) in those workouts.

Some eastern European powerlifters bench 8 times per week. Most world class Olympic lifters squat 6 times per week. But they vary their workloads.

Just throwing that out there. :)

this is why I always stick with training each bodypart only 1x per week

I've found that if you work each bodypart only 1x per year, the odds of you overtraining decrease immensely. ;)

The downside is that you end up with the physique of a 7 year old girl.......also known as Tx.:cum:

i train every bodypart 2x a week i dunno it seems to work for me i do
chest back and bi's mon and shoulders legs and tri's tuesday take wed off then repeat but i go lighter on the 3rd and 4th day

When I first got into lifting the guys I trained with trained every muscle group twice a week, except legs for some reason... Funny now that I think of it. I trained this same way for several years until I went away for college. I look at my body now, and see that my legs, while they were trained only once a week, are in much better shape than the rest of my body, even though I have been training every muscle group once a week for more years than I did twice a week.

There is no doubt in my mind that I had been over training those first few years, I should have been seeing some pretty big changes, but week after week I looked pretty much the same. 3 hour long work outs just don't do the body good in my opinion. It wasn't until I switched over to a once a week per muscle group that my body really started to respond.

Now there is no question in my mind that twice a week works for some, but I am sure these few that it does are likely on a cycle or eat 3 cows a day.

Just my 2 cents.
