Okay, I'm curious to see what everyone else thought of the ppv.
I myself was quite disappointed especially with all the DQ's.
For those of you that didn't watch it, here's a quick recap.
Bjorn Bregy vs Michael McDonald. Michael just couldn't seem to get anything working against Bregy. He was all over Michael. Not a good fight more Michael McDonald. Bregy was just crazy with the knees!
I was rooting for Mcdonald but Bregy came out on top in the first round.
Okay, the Carter Williams/Ray Sefo fight looked like it was going to be a great one! I'm amazed at the quick hands and feet of Carter Williams, especially the way he handles his size. I believe he weighed in around 250lbs. Both fighters were very precise with their kicks and punches. In my opinion, Carter dominated this fight as well but ended up throwing an elbow to the head and the fight got stopped. The doctor's came in, looked at Sefo's eye and stopped the fight. What were you thinking Carter? I should also add that Carter was given two yellow cards. One for the shots to the groin and the other for the elbow. Sefo gets the win!
The Peter Graham/Sam Greco fight was a little disappointing as well for me. Shit, does Peter Graham have quick hands. Greco ends up pulling out due to injury. Peter Graham gets the win.

Okay, gotta grab a coffee. Be right back with the rest!:)

Okay, the next fight was awesome. Alexei Ignashov vs Mike Bernardo.
Alexei Ignashov was just awesome with his kicks. He uses excellent combinations. Mike Bernardo just couldn't take the abuse to the legs. Ignashov takes the win here. This was a well deserved win!
The next match of Jerrell Venetian vs Peter Aerts was a good fight too however Aerts didn't do anything special in this one but ends up coming out on top by UD. Once again, i'm impressed with the hand speed of Aerts. Good fight.
Leko vs Filho was an excellent fight. Leko was very impressive in all areas. Very good eyes, sees all the openings. Quick, aggressive, and fearless. Leko wins the fight by UD. Awesome fight!
Another disappointing fight for me was the Cyril Abidi vs Francois Botha. I was looking forward to seeing this one and it ended before it started..lol. Botha knocks Abidi down and then punches him when he's down for a disqualification. Abidi wins by DQ. Not the way I wanted this one to end.
Last match of the evening being Sapp vs Remy Bonjonsky. Remy Bonjonsky owned Sapp in the fight. Sapp was winded and slow. Remy brought everything that he had to the table with Sapp. Sapp looked almost surprised with Remy's performance. Once again, Remy is down and Sapp punches him while he was down. WTF people?
Remy gets the win. I was happy that Remy won the fight but I wanted him to knock Sapp's ass out! If Sapp wants to continue to fight, he's going to definitely improve on his aerobic conditioning. He looked like he was having trouble breathing after just a few minutes of action.
Anyway, wasn't the best ppv in my opinion. I'm interested to hear everyone's elses opinions on the DQ's and whatnot.
Cheers,
Fyre

I haven't seen the fight yet thanks to living in the UK where K1 coverage is a bit lapse (they'll probably show it in a few months on Eurosport :S)

Well Alot of upsets occurred and alot of inevitable outcomes in my opinion but Bonjasky vs Sapp!!! YES finally someone showed the beast that technique and form overcome power and intimidation! It's a shame though that Bonjsaky won't be facing Tyson and Musashi will, Musashi is more likely to fight a "Worked" fight IMO than Bonjasky :(

BTW Fyre, You're analysis of the event has made me love u even more if that's possible ;)

Yeah this is probably one of the worst K1s I have seen in a long while. I personally was most disapointed with Carter, and McDonald. The thing I really tuned in to see was Sapp get knocked out and, that did not even happen. Fyre you should go and train Sap, he needs some good conditioning and needs to drop some weight.

Yep, he definitely needs to work on his cardio conditioning. I can't believe how winded he looked so early in the fight. That's sad!

The guy is a monster strength wise, but with cardio like that he will never get a chance to show what he has. Very little kickboxing talent as it is, he needs to be able to make sure to last in fights so he can use his strength when the opportunity presents itself.

he's a novelty of K-1
i am a traditionalist and i don't like to see sapp win and gain populartiy because he uses his size and forearms to beat opponents.
If you saw the fight against Cyril Abidi you'd see how he used the dirtiest tactics to beat abidi. Abidi did not deserve to be treated in such a way and lose. I'm glad Crocop messed him up though.

The k-1 heavyweight arena is a farce in my opinion

I agree totally hun! :)

k1

carter williams got f*&(ing robbed. not to take anything from sefo. he was gomae. but the knee strikes by williams were legal

Right i didnt see the carter fight but i heard alot about it
I even emailed carter back about this and he replied that the descision was interesting

what gets to me is that who's more popular? Sefo or Carter?

Well Sefo = Japanese ticket sales etc
The k-1 corp are very very dubious

hmmmm...dubious.....that's a good way to describe it!

yeah well look at last years k-1 gp final

ooh shemmy schilt was supposed to fight hoost but everyone wanted to see sapp hoost 2
shemmy schilt broke his hand a week before the fight, explaination "Heavy sparring"

What idiot at that level does heavy sparring before what could possibley be the biggest tourney of his life? My diagnosis was that he broke his hand carrying the bag of money mr ishi handed to him

So Aerts vs Sefo... Aerts clearly won that but sefo gets the descision?
Sapp beats hoost but sapp can't continue, so hoost goes on

Hoost vs sefo, oh no sefo can't carry on
Hoost vs lebanner, ok that was a legitimate break cos lebanner has been in alot of problems with his arm since that fight but there yyou go, lets give the peoples no 1 his last crown
