for those of you that wrap how tight do u go I experimented a few time today and the wraps are really tight. I can get ot parrell but they knidda pinch a bit...am I wrapping too tight or is this normal

also I'll need them for my last 2 sets probably so do u guys re-wrap between sets or jst lossen them a bit and tighten them back up??

the beauty about wraps is depending on the weight you can wrap tight, super tight, or not so tight..

I always take the wraps off after the set..remeber do not go too far up the thigh or too low on the calve it should be behind te knee as that is where you get support..

PB has a knee wrap vid in the sticky check it out

I watched pbs video and I'm only one width of the wrap abovew and below the knee I think that all he does but I will rewatch it before the gym on monday... looknig forward to trying to set a new PR

depending on your size if yourlegs arew smaller then use a figure 8 wrapping motion..if you have bigger legs like PB then use an overlap

my legs are 27 or 28 inches I forget but i do have small joints I do;nt consider them big

any directions out thee on the figure 8 method ??

Knee wraps have saved my knees, my doctor says I have a slightly torn meniscus in both knees, with knee wraps I can still squat heavy and I have kept serious injury at bay.

I have never wrapped my knees, just curious if you don't have serious wear and tear or injuire why are you wrapping them. I understand they can give you a good 30 lbs in comp if wrapped right, but why in training. I thought the compression it caused can cause damage over time.

no, they save your knees from damage actually. whenever you squat heavy- within 15% of your max aproximately, you should wrap them, OR if you're feeling any tenderness/pain/noise etc.

i used wraps for my heavy sets because ive had a bum knee..but since ive been squatting wider (alot wider) and using a box i never wrap my knees and dont have pain anymore either

If used too much they can damage your knees. I have read this a thousand times, it has to do with the knee cap and it rubbing agains the miniscus i beleive. It may not be the misiscus though, someone should no better than i. If you don't have any knee problems i would not wrap them, like i said unless i was going for a single in gear. But that is me. Most knee pain imo is from improper squatting, and if you squat 400lbs you are saying you should wrap your knees at 340, i find that a a little rediculous. Now their are people who have been doing this so fucking long they need to wrap them or the pain gets them, i understand that. I don't see how wrapping your knees every week is a good thing.

ok, here's some articles backing up what i said- these are from experts and from legitimate sites:
This is on bodybuilding.com from dr. fred "dr.squat" hatfield:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drsquat12.htm
go about halfway down the page and you'll see a pic of a wrapped knee and info on it.

http://www.prowriststraps.com/how_to_use_knee_wraps
here's info from the president of the canadian powerlifting union and another by a strength and conditioning coach (and powerlifter)

http://www.deepsquatter.com/strength/archives/ls32.htm
and a short bit by louie simmons

http://www.joeskopec.com/fredwrap.html
and another by fred hatfield (a well known expert btw)

Louie simmons does not have the guys wrap their knees except in competition, and that is to get bigger numbers, i am 99% sure about that, and i am not saying i am completely correct on everything. But this is something that gets debated to death. You also posted a link to someone who sells knee wraps, and the joeskopec one is telling you how to put them on. Even the bodybuilding.com one says as needed. People saying they have bad knees is as much a joke as the old bad back line. But like i said, their are people that need them, i do agree with that. I just don't think some 18 year old in the gym should be wrapping up with 85% of his max when his max is 300 lbs.
