Lets Fix Rule's Squat (vid)

I know that Arnold used to squat barefoot, have any of you guys done that? I hear alot of guys like the old school converse. I personally have these old adidas flat soled shoes that dont have an arch so its extremly flat and they work very well.

bar placement is an individual thing. I high bar squat. High bar actually makes you more upright than low bar if you got the balance and core strength to pull it off.

to start with you are leaning forward before you even start. Secondly you lacking leg strength to push that weight correctly. That’s why you dumping it on your back, path of least resistance. Drop back to 135, squat deep (those were above parallel, all of them- a guy your size should have no prob burying squats) with a big pause at the bottom. sit deep in the hole till you are completely still then pres with your LEGS.

if you are wearing running shoes lose them. dawgy called that one.

Some box squats set up 2" below parallel will teach you to sit back in accordance with bar placement.

low bar squatters typically have more of a lean than high bar squatters due to keeping the bar over the heels. but low bar gives a leverage advantage over high bar as far as back strength goes.

you have a combination of things going on that are causing you to get folded over.

balance
leg strength
core strength

drop down in weight til you get these worked out and then you’ll be off to the races. come by the gym sometime and i can spend 15 minutes with ya and you’ll be squatting like a pro. =0)

and just to make it official, never put plates under your heels.

I squat barefoot. All I have is running sneakers, and I never got around to buying anything just for squats.
