Hey guys I just have 3 quick questions that hopefully one of you guys can help me with. I just saw a friend who has a bit of fluid build up in his right shoulder which occurred almost immediately after his injection last night. He asked for my opinion and I told him I believe the needle he used must of got infected/unsterile. So anyway back to the lump on his shoulder I told him I believe this is a collection of pus and he should take antibiotics. What do you guys think, am I right? and with the infection would the stroids of been absorbed by his body or are they sitting with the pus with the fluid build up? and finally was I right to recommend antibiotics (and obviously to see a doctor)?

Hopefully somone can answer these questions and increase awareness on how important to use sterile techniques for injections. Thanks.

antibiotics wouldn't be a bad idea imo. just to be safe.
is there a fever or any other symtems to go along with this issue?
did he inject deep enough cuase if not that would cause a lump. OZZY just put up a great post on how to inject and stay clean. take a look.

If there is a big fluid filled area take his ass to the doc. Usually a infection takes a few days before it flares up....

The doctor will probably drain it and put him on antibiotics...

You gave him good advice.

I wouldn't say theres alot of fluid but definitely some in there, I just had another look at him and the actual swelling seems to of decreased although the area is apparently alot more tender. Do you think the steroids were absorbed by the muscles? or do they acumulate with the fluid/infection? (Advice to see the doctor has been passed on)

is this the first time you guys have pinned? i only ask cause if it is you might be over thinking things.
how long has it taken for the swelling to go down.
like i asked before any fever. track lines from the injection site. i would keep an eye on things if there is no fever or tracks just see if it goes down. how long has he been like that?

so you're saying this happened immediately after injection last night.
So he injected and got an infection right away. That sounds strange.
Did he get the needle all the way into the muscle? What was he using for needles.

Maybe I misunderstood how you described it.

Give us some more info...

How long was the syringe?
Did you insert it straight in at a 90 degree angle?
Did you force the gear in fast or slowly?

I agree..more info is needed..
If, in a couple days , there s no improvement..or the slightest indication of fever or irritation sets in...doc.
Don t fuck around..you ll make a uncomfortable, relatively minor problem worse.
Good Luck.

Ok, this is what I got from him. He was injecting 2mls at an angle of about 90 degrees and insrted the needle a about 3 quarters in and about half an hour after the injection he looked at the area and noticed there was a small round lump protruding from where the injection site was, this is when he got surprised and came and asked me because this has never happened before. Today, the lump has gone down although the area is alot more tender and the soreness has spread to a larger radius, not sure if he has a fever. The reason I thought the needle was infected is because he opened it and placed it somewhere before using it. What do you guys think would it be right for me to lead to that conclusion? and do you think the steroid has been absorbed or is it held within the fluid/pus.

wat size was the pin ..

should go in all the way with the needle.. sounds like he never went in deep enough

thats possible, the swelling has gone down although there is a larger area of bruising now and a solid area/cork. Although, he believes the needle definitely went deep enough

Yea, its spreading out. Tell him to get in the shower and massage the shit out of it with hot water. Trying using moist heat. I had a pretty bad knot that lasted about 9 days. The worst pain i felt in my life, it will make a grown man cry.

It sounds like you are more worried about absorption than an infection. If an infection is present, why would you want it to absorb more? Did you swab the area with an alcohol pad as well as the top of the vial before drawing?

This EXACT thing happened to me. It puffed up and then turned black like a bruise - about the size of a quarter on my butt. i couldn't walk for 3 dyas - man, it hurt. He will be fine, its one of those 1 in 100 things. If it was immediate, it was not an infection just prob not deep enough

hey guys some new info, its been a week since his injection and theres still a hard lump but has definitely gone down since last week.

Today was his second deca injection (he injects 4mls of deca 50 a week, so 200mg which he splits up into 2mls in 2 different areas) and again half an hour after the injection the area swelled up and theres a hard lump although no where near as big as last weeks lump just a small hard lump this time, what do you guys think, could the deca be crap or is it something that just happens because apparently this is the first time this has happened to him

areed^^ trash it.
surely this guy made sure he went deep enough in the muscle this time, if not he needs more research on injections and possibly more.

ye he definitely made sure he went in deep enough this time and now thatg whole area is very tender, his used deca 50 before a while back and nothing that extreme has happened so I think your right it must be the gear.
