I am 5'8" 150 lbs quite skinny. Ive been working out for two months mostly all upper body. Thats the only body parts I worried about but the last month I have been reading these forums and decided I wanted and needed to workout everything. I am looking for a routine that hits everything once or twice a week and looking to gain some weight any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Gripe at me if you need to for only working out upper body, I was and am ignorant.

Buy the arnold swatrzenegger encyclopedia. Start one of his routines, they are a good start, and you will learn all exercises, and all muscle groups, and the basics about diet.

You will gain quite a bit during the first year of training, so make sure to work legs, because they can fall behind very fast, and you will have small legs compared to your upper body.

the arnie encyclopedia is a good read.
how many days a week are you planning on training
I would perhaps suggest a 2 day split, done twice a week for the first 3 months.
day 1 chest/tri/shoulders/calves
day 2 rest
day 3 back/bi/quads/hamstrings
day4 rest
day 5 chest etc
day 6 rest
day 7 back etc

then repeat it again
once your body has adjusted to this and you are starting to lift heavier, move on to a 3 day split etc
its really easy to over train, more is not always better, especially when you are beginning.
eat heaps, train hard and get plenty of sleep and you are guarenteed to grow
good luck dude

I plan on eventually working out maybe 5 times a week my plans could change in the future im not quite sure. Thanks for the suggestions and information.

5 days a week is perfect, thats what I do, plus cardio 3-4 times a week. So im in the gym 6 days a week doing cardio, weights, or both.

FreakyWeezel, I take it you are young and new to this game, so I would concentrate on diet, get in protein around 1 1/2 grams per body pound every day.

What ever training program you decide on, stick with it for a while, do not jump from program to program and keep a log book and write down your weights and reps and try to beat those weight and reps everytime you do that exercise, maybe by a couple of lbs or just one more rep. Don't just go through motions here, work on some intensity and the weight will come.

You are young most programs will put mass on you if you eat, stay clean and do Free Squats to get your own Test to come on big time...
