Hey guys just wanted to know if injected into a arterie how soon would u know I normally have been getting a friend to do shoulder injections but now my second time doing it and afterwards start worrieing non stop

I think he means, "If I accidently injected into an artery, how long would it take to know?"

You would know right away, especially after you pulled out the 2 inch needle needed to hit an artery; most arteries are pretty deep. Now a vein, that is more likely, and most likely you would end up coughing quite a bit shortly after doing it - as well as it would most likely gush blood when you removed the needle.

Man don't get me started on this .... injecting into a vein scenario.

Long answer very short. It is extremely difficult to keep a needle in a vein ( for what we do) while performing an IM injection. With that knowledge we only sometimes can / will get a drop or two into the blood flow. This may cause a litlle dizziness , cough excited breathing. FOR a FEW MOMENTS.

If you fully understand the above , then there is NO REASON to aspirate. I never do it after 37 years.

Nothing to worry about... since I started in 80' I have NEVER heard of a death or problem from an accidental injection straight into the blood stream via veins , while doing IM.
