Noob advice

Ok... I've read the stickies etc and think that using some chemical help may be a bad idea. Correct me if I am wrong.
I have spine injuries that would be improved by a very strong core. I can't make much headway due too poor recovery times from workouts etc. I used to lift weights and run, but I try to be nice to my discs and don't now. I consider myself muscular and 40 lbs too heavy. Would hgh and possibly an anabolic allow me to rapidly develop core muscles? I currently just work out with a trx trainer and dumbells with some pool time for aerobic.
I am hoping to regain the ability to lift and do what I enjoy. I am 3 years into this and I am still stuck. Dr says I'm good to be active again, but the injury caused some atrophy in core that I haven't regained.

Anyway, my goal is just to get back to being 210lbs of muscle again. Different goal and different application than most I would presume.

Thanks.

Btw...I am over 30

hGh won't do much for you at 40lbs over... Lose those 40 and then see where you are at as far as core strength. If you have back problems then you need to be light. GH won't give you tons of strength for building muscle It will just make you look nicer.

Thanks. So would steroid use not speed recovery and strength gains in that situation either? I know they are usually used to gain lean mass. My injury doesn't require me to be that light per se. I just had some nerve damage that atrophied some muscles and made me miserable for a while. It seems to be affecting my recovery time a lot. But again, restoring those muscles would make the rest of spine very happy. Good to dream of an easier fix right?

No it's always nice to have a quick fix.. I love that idea ;)
The problem is that when you use steroids you get stronger and you press yourself to do more weight. I can't help but wonder if you can do damage to yourself since you already said that you have been playing it safe with your injury while doing therapy. Even with steroids you have to lose those 40lbs bro. See where you are at after some training and then weigh out your options. All the steroids in the world are not going to help you lose weight if that's what your thinking. Steroids won't heal your spine either I'm sorry to say.

Thanks again. Right now I am drinking 500 calories of protein shakes and a normal dinner to suck weight. :toilet:

Two more months of that crap to go.....

HAHAHAHA

Horrible!

Put down the protien shake. 1 maybe 2 is ok. you need to get your macros from real food.

You need to get into the diet forum.

How about some real stats.

Age, weight, body fat, height, Overall Goal.

5'11"
250 lb
Probably 28% fat....too fat
I want to get back to 200 or so of muscle again. Strength is more important to me than size for longevity purposes.
I hurt my back rappelling a few years back. I had a nice 1-2 knockout by getting mono and injuring my knee within a few months of each other. Too hard to go from a 3k+ calorie diet and high activity to being trashed and not gain weight. Now I am just dying to get active again and have been frustrated by 3 years of failure. My arms are still strong enough to get me in trouble with the weaker core and I keep hurting myself. Too impatient to workout as light as my core wants me too. (Not to mention it doesn't feel challenging.)

Sometimes you gotta start with baby steps.
