I'm so happy to write this today. I went to the gym this mourning and I was very excited about today's workout because I was looking foward to chest day and to brake a personal record. Set went like this 225 X 10 reps, 255 X 6, 275 X 4 and 275 X 4. Just when I have finished the 4th one some how I put my left wrist straight and the shit went down on my chest like a car with no brakes. :crying:
The bar hit my chest fair and square from the top with the 138 pounds on my left side and then the right side. My chest cracked like a cookie and the pain, OHHHH the pain was hell.
I'm good now. The swelling is there but no broken ribs or muscle tear, can't laugh or cough or sneeze but it's all good!!!!

I did set a new personal record, in fact two:
275lbs X 4 two sets
Got hammered by 275lbs on the chest and survived :wiggle:

Have this happen to any of you or any other situation? Share some stories guys, I think this is a wakeup call for me it scare the shit out of me, maybe I'm watching to much "Life in the ER". :afro:

And yes I'm alive and looking foward to thursday to see how I'm doing with the swelling.

I told my spotter not to touch the bar unless I can't anymore. I hate when they pull the bar from you on your max rep. I never thought that this could happen to me but it did. Now I will buy straps for my hands and two spotters every time!!!

Why would you want to use straps for benching??!
 
quit using the cheater grip. I yell at my guys when they use it, scares the shit out of me, ever since my sister dropped 150lbs on her face, only chipped a tooth, I've never liked the cheater grip, I use use it but changed after that. But thank god you came out ok bro, an spotter can only do so much, I hate some dude standing with his nuts in my face, i like to be able to just see the ceiling and nothing else.

(This is all assuming that was the grip you were using)

Now I know that the grip is call "suicide grip" and I also learned why!

I will never use it again. Today I'm sore all over, even in parts that has nothing to do with the chest, but it's all good. It only hurts when I breeth.
 
ya that what we call it around here. I assumed that is what most people called it, I'ver heard it called a suicide grip to, but the people I've been involved with call it the cheater grip. It like football there is a million names for the same thing, just depends on the part of the country you come from. Thats the part I've always loved about sports is all the different lingo, and its orgins.
 
i seen guys drop the weight using a thumb over grip as well. in fact one guy broke one of his thumbs and dislocated the other.
 
Damn just today my wrists buckeled a bit because I unracked a good deal of weight without someone there to help break the bar. I thought she was going right onto my chest - thank god I didnt drop it, id be lucky as hell to escape that without injury.

Good deal on the PR and damn, even better deal on the no-broken-ribs record.
 
wow...never heard of broken or dislocated thumbs on bench. Of course you power lifters deal with a bit more weight than most.
 
Hello guys!

Well, I went to the Doc yesterday and Xrays came up negative for fractures. I've been on pain killers last two days and I couldn't even write anymore. It's all good now, chest hurts like a MOFO I can do nothing and I mean nothing this sucks!!!
Fuck!! just when Test is starting to kick in at the end of my 3rd week. This is going to take a while to recup. maybe 2 weeks or so, Do you guys think I have to hold the cycle and start PCT? :confused:
Cycle is just Test Enan. 350 a week and my 4th and last shot was this Tuesday 2/28/06 a day after the incident.

Private Record on this cycle (first one)
Bench Press 275lbs 4 times X 2 Sets
Squats 305lbs 8 times X 2 Sets
Military Press 185lbs 5 times X 2 sets

I think I was in a good roll and I'm feeling strong at 206lbs.

If I got out of the cycle, what should I do for my next cycle: keep the dose or bump it to 500mg?
