This is aimed toward the older guys here. In regards to cycling and the bodybuilding lifestyle in general....if you could travel back in time and start from scratch, what would you do differently?

-Would you wait longer to start using AAS?
-Would you have used more AAS? Less?
-Would you have taken better care of your health?
-Would you have trained differently?
-Would you have been more serious about your diet?
-Would you have put more time in?
-Would you have taken it less seriously and enjoyed your life more?

Just some examples. Please share your thoughts. Being a young guy in this game, I like to learn from the veterans who have done it all. Hopefully some other young guys can use some of the advice as well :)

I would have about 23 kids right now if I knew then what I know now. Mannnnnnnnnn, the possibilities!

Ohhhhhhhhhh, with regards to AAS...

I avoided AAS as I was worried about gyno and killing my ability to produce test naturally. Of course, I end up on TRT anyway. Can't say that means I'd juice (I did have some scholarship opportunities for football), but I would have certainly given it more thought. Mastering diet would be the one thing I'd change if I could go back. Drugs, training, all the other things are important - sure; but diet is just so huge.

Oh, did I mention that the girls of my high school would ALL be carrying my children? :wiggle:

-Would you wait longer to start using AAS?

No, I held off until the age of 35, I got everything I possibly could out of my natural system, I'd hit a plateau that calories and training changes could do nothing about. I was in better condition natural than most of the people playing with gear on here are in. So it was time to raise my game.

-Would you have used more AAS? Less?

I wish I had educated myself better on PCT and the incorrect use of orals earlier on - perhaps now I wouldn't be on TRT

-Would you have taken better care of your health?

I have always taken good care of myself. Perhaps I binged on alcohol too much in my 20's and 30's - but I have good memories to show for that.
Since turning 40 I have been meticulous with diet and always keep health in mind.

-Would you have trained differently?

Training is my forte. I pride myself on my high standard of training and love imparting my knowledge to others.
Training has NEVER been an issue for me, I've been playing with iron for 27 years now and I'll take this shit to the grave. I live this.

-Would you have been more serious about your diet?

I never realised just how important diet is until the last couple of years.
Yes, I played around with supplements, yes I ate a lot of protein. But it's only recently that I've tracked macros, learnt about foods and how they affect my physique.
Newcomers need to understand that diet is everything. AAS are just a small cog on the wheel.

-Would you have put more time in?

Not physically possible, my training regimen is as tough as it gets.

-Would you have taken it less seriously and enjoyed your life more?

No, I'd have taken it more seriously in my younger years - I never really appreciated how good my genetics were until recently.

Hope that helps brother!

I would of been less serious about my diet. waste of time worrying counting calories, when I could of enjoyed food more. instead food is more of an enemy now and after reading so many food labels is really is now.

1)I would have filtered all of the ugl gear I purchased. I have found that since I started doing that, I have no scar tissue build up. I have been pinning delts for 5-6 years now. No scar tissue. Scar tissue is all caused by infections.

That is the most important lesson I can pass on. A whatman 22.5 and pre sealed sterile vials are the best insurance you can buy, and its under $15. It is well worth it.

I would've stayed away from the dirty prohormones & jumped into AAS about 10 years ago. I'm 43, knocking on 44. I also would've kept a better diet.

Oh, and don't get me started on my x-wife!! Lol..

I normally agree with you, but I'm having a hard time nodding my head on this one. Scar tissue forms whenever tissues have experienced trauma. The only reason we should notice it from pinning is if we don't rotate sites, as this causes the scar tissue to build on top of other existing scar tissues. As it's fibrous in nature, it's very resistant to punctures and cuts.

Can bacteria damage tissue? Sure. But that must have been some serious bathtub gear to cause trauma to your muscle tissue.

No disrespect intended, but I just felt I needed to comment. :)

I would have listened to people who knew and cared for me re diet, training, and supplementation.

Instead, I chose often times to do what I wanted anyway or found the person who told me what I wanted to hear and followed suit.

I wouldnt have gotten so big. I would have stayed 220 and lean and mean.

Very humble. I didn't expect that at all. What's your main reason?

Hard to full body shave, wipe your butt, wash your shoulders and sides, tie shoes, etc? Those are the things I generally come up with when I think.. would I want to be THAT big?

I'm young. But, if I could go back to 14 y.o. when I started lifting and just taught myself how to really manage my diet, how to train effectively and safely.. and to stay away from ProHormones and most other supplements even (I bought all that garbage back then, BCAAs, glutamine, creatine, arginine), and I would have told myself finally.. not to have quit Track and Field. Maybe even wrestling too. Maybe even convinced myself to have done football.

I still bow my head in disappointment at my decision to not go back to Track the last three years of high school. I was a great vaulter as just a freshman. Strong and fast.

If I could go back and change anything--
I would -Never have given women the right to vote ; as they acted better as chattel and the rule of thumb would still be in good stead . And the prodding would not have stopped until moral improved and attitudes changed. They are far to emotional for making logical decisions and have no fear of accountability.
I d have never repealed prohibition and scheduled alcohol as a Schedule 2 or 3 due to it s lowering of morality, increasing poor decision making and it's addictiveness. And in relation to it's negative effect on the individual, the familial unit and society as a whole it s continued access to anyone anytime baffles me..

Wait...u meant me and gear and such...beggin your pardon sir. I m leaving as many split tail s shivering and oozing fluidsin my wake as possible these days do to a recent series of events that has motivated me to be to be a 1 man " V for Vengeance" via Malicious Vaginal Mischief and Mayhem due to a lack of that genders lack of veracity.

I would have waited till I was 25 instead of eating d bol my senior year and inflating and deflating as often as my trt infused depleted uranium pussy penetrating penile SABOT round dispatches a threat. On trt I auto reload like the new Russian T-90 MBT. I shoot harder, fASTER AND GO LONGER THAN A WELL OILED ABRAHM S M1A2 CREW manning that Rhien-Metal 120 mm smooth bore boys. I m tearing through estrogen based tangos like never as there s no shortage of hot horney hair dressing MILF S prowling for a pounding.

I would not have done 22 set s of chest wondering why after training chest 3 time s a week, it would not grow.
I d have not have powerlifted as I ve no cartledge left hardly anywhere in my pushing points such as knees, shoulders, elbows and such. I was a huge fan of Kazmayer's strength but Zane's look , clearly a dichotomy dooming me to the feeble minded and embodiment of the trainwreck you all see in my avi as if you knew me and inter acted with me you d walk away either exasperated, sad, pissed or be carried off by EMT s.

I would have embraced the 2 most potent anabolic's on the planet -
Food ---You HAVE GOT to feed the machine and with high octane fuel and not that watered down 87 or injector clogging ethanol shit.
Big blocks need more fuel even at idle.

Sleep- wether running 1/4 miles or 24 hour s at LeMans you better be probably carbed, built right and shod with good rubber and have got to allow for proper rebuilds and cool downs and rest or risk running your machine into the ground.

To not heed both the afore mentioned items with a real sense of purpose theres no amount of gear that will compensate .

Running nitrous in your mothers "soccer mom hauler grocery getting stock SUV", that natural human she birthed that is YOU, is gonna blow that motor quickly and leave you stalled, limp and useless and PROBABLY in traffic no less.

But I do love the life so....especially now as I m free of the chain s of answering to anything, anyone any time but TO god and my dick s appetite.

My god s not short of cash and needs no war in my name, trait s we share. And he said a MANS SAFER SLEEPING ON A PEAKED ROOF THAN AROUND A CONTENTIOUS WOMAN--LOOK IT UP, mf er...I dare you.

Ive always been a competitive athlete. I changed my training to bodybuilding after an injury and could not longer run. I got so big that my body couldnt carry the weight. I was no longer able to enjoy may of the other activities I love. Surfing has been limited. Hockey was not as active. 15 years later Ive just dropped 50 pounds Im still 230.

I would have started much sooner, and I never would have quit lifting. Period. I could only imagine.

So if you dropped 50lbs and now are 230 does that mean at your LARGEST you were around 280? If so, bodybuilder big or powerlifter big, as in cut up or smooth and carrying a little extra weight?

Me too. I quit track and field, football and baseball but, track and baseball I was the best at yet, all in the name of bodybuilding.

At 5'10'' at 230lbs it seems to be pretty hard to reach back and open my rear window in my 3 seater truck. I can only imagine being 300+ lbs. Would I like to be 300lbs, HELL YEAH!

Agreed! I knew everything when I was a kid but, when I turned 26 my dad was the smartest man in the world. (Previous Powerlifter)
