PIP at Non-Injection Site

8th injection of 250mg pinnacle Test E. First time in each muscle I had virgin muscle pain. Everytime after that besides this one, I had virtually no pain at all.

This time, I injected my left glute and feeling tenderness in the same muscle towards the spine region. It may be slightly swollen when I feel around the area, but no visible signs or redness. It hurts to sit on it and sleep as well. No fever or anything. Pain started a few hours after the first day and continued to now (3rd day).

Any thoughts on whether this is an abscess or just a weird reaction? Why is the pain so far away from injection site?

To me, it sounds like you hit a nerve. This is just one possible reason why you feel pain in a different location than the damage. You have to be careful with the sciatic nerve back there, this is why I hate pinning glutes. I hit my sciatic nerve 15 years ago and I still have occasional issues with it.

Also, if you did hit a nerve, it should clear up in a few more days. Ibuprofen will ease the swelling around the nerve and decrease the pain. 800 mgs of ibuprofen.

Never thought of that, thanks. But wouldn't I feel a sharp pain of some sort if I hit near the sciatic nerve? Its only the left glute muscle near the spine that's swelling up and not the right side.

My advice see a Doctor no offense but no one here has a medical degree to be giving that type of advice.

No offense taken. I'll definitely see a doctor in a few days or if it gets worse fast. I'm just trying to save a trip as I think PIP are common and if anyone had input from their own experiences.

Just wondering what gauge and length needle you were pinning with?

you could have a deep muscle bruise.. the pain from that you could be feeling somewhere else then the injection site.. You may have to give your glutes a break. Have you been pinning glutes exclusively? When I pin the same muscles over and over eventually I blow them out and have to switch to a different muscle group and let them fully recover...

Yes, been switching off solely between right and left glute. I'll try injecting quads.

I use a 5/8 and pin my fatass never hit anything(so far). Twice a week left then right side. Usually 2cc no problem. Pinning muscles could only do 1cc per muscle.amd.it.still always got sore.

4th Day: Took an aleve before sleeping 3rd day and the pain subsided drastically in the morning.
5th Day: Pain is entirely gone. When I sit/sleep on the position left of the spine, I feel like a small lump or bubble.

Hopefully will go away in a few days, but thoughts on this? I'm hoping its not an abcsess.

doest sound like abcsess

glutes are more risky spot , may of hot a nerve ...

remember "upper outer" upper - just above beginning of above crack level, outer - outer half of cheek

^^^this....sciatic nerve runs thru other quadrants which could absolutely cause pain far away from inj site...ouch

After doing some more digging, there was no pain during the actual injection itself. I also find people saying that hitting the sciatic nerve with a 1.5 inch isn't possible.

6th Day Update: Still no pain but that lump when I sleep/sit is still there. Feels like I'm napping on a pingpong ball.

I do. NSAIDs are good for short term, but can cause a lot of damage long term... Does the pain radiate? Describe it exactly

No pain at all anymore. No redness or fever. It was slightly warm before but no longer. I get slight discomfort when putting pressure on it as in when sleeping. Sitting, I can avoid the area
