problems w\ rack pulls

Doing rack pulls off of a bench is starting to become a problem cause every time I come down the bar shakes alot and I have to wait for a second for the bar to stop shaking..then go ahead with my next rep. Having someone else hlep me load and unload the bar becuase the bar has to be balanced on the bench doesnt bother me that much anymore. ( i am at the 475lbs range and i really dont know how muchmore this bench can hold either, considering strength is my #1 goal)
I workout at a university gym and I dont have money right now to go ahead and join a new gym (wish I did) And there is no power rack at my university gym nor will there ever be cause I have tryed talking to the director for getting a power rack but he doesnt bleive it is safe etc etc...just a bit ignorant is all he is.

My two options are this...

-Do rackpulls in the smythe machine

- Or do SLDL's in place of racks (though i do sldl's as my prosterior movemnet on leg day. so not sure about this)

Hyper extensions, goodmornings, dimels.

Goodmornings might be a tad tricky...

I like just going straight off the floor with deads. Good mornings are awesome^they were tricky though at first in order to keep good form and not hurt yourself.

yeah i have done gm's and they are a great exercise but I did them at my gym back home over this past summer.

what if u set the pins lower?? so u don't touch the pins?? i do rack pulls at over 500ish i just don't touch the pins every time.
G'luck

I am not setting the pins at all, its not a power rack, I am using a flat bench press to lay the bar on to do rack pulls. My university gym unfortunaltly doesnt have a power rack.

WIsh it did.

I will figure something out.

A University gym without a power rack. What has the world came to. Bet they got a bunch of shiny useless machines that cost a fortune though:D

My school doesn't have one either...
I told them I'd bring one in (on my dime) for them if they'd let me... douchebags...

do your deads off the floor if there is no rack. do you have a cable tower? pull throughs are a good exercise to supplement your deadlift too.

waht has worked best for me in the past is the basic pullingbig routine.

SO i try to pull deads off blocks or floor and alternate that week in week out with racks, but i gues i will just do sld's instead.

thanks for all the heads up guys
