raw benches

as far as dc goes i was playing with the routine and making some mods to make it more user friendly for those who are less gifted in the recovery area like myself. i have about got it worked out and added some PLing movements to the routine as it was lacking some in this area. i didnt use short breaks, or the major negative work. i also made it a 2 day per week routine but with more posterior core work. ill get back on it after the meet and finish it up and post what i come up with.

as far as your bench goes you have the size and strength to put up some big shirted numbers. i wish you were here so we could work together some. its always easier when you have an experienced guy to help with the little things. i am fortunate to have been trained by jeff for several months and now i still get to work with world record holders at my gym and the surrounding area. NC is a hot bed for world class PLers. we have several within an hour or two drive and they always welcome me when ever i go train with them. another one of our gym members just won the ipa nationals in the 181 class and took best overall light weight lifter. 720 squat, 470 bench, 620 dead at 181. 1810 total for a 10x body weight total. sweet. he smoked a 505 bench but got redlighted for his ass coming up which is impossible the way we bench. it was hotly contested by his coach and the head judge (loui), the side judges called it.
 
Damn powerlifters always fucking up a good program, damn you guys are thick skulled.

PB, I got this powerlifter guy training with me, and I told him this program ain't the normal shit here, you are going to be so full of blood you are going to die the first couple of workouts, he thought I was crazy, well second workout I thought he was going to cry plus I had him do 50 reps on the Sled, hehe, he is getting super strong now, damn powerlifters...
 
PB, what is the current raw bench record? I got asked this morning and was scratching my head.

In-Human, he must be a pretty shitty PL'er. Go pickup a copy of PL USA and look at the contest coverage. It's getting scary when 700 benches are getting common, and I could hardly count the number of 800+ benches in the last issue including a few in the 220 class. Equipment or not I don't see any BB's even coming close to these numbers. But I am a biased powerbuilder :)

I'm training most of my BB'ers with a modified westside format these days and the results are better than ever. It's a given strength is a LOT better, but size for most guys is going up at least as fast as when they were doing BB routines, EXCEPT for the guys that respond well to volume work. Some guys just need to do volume for BB purposes.

everyone is different and learning what a particular person responds to is the key to success .
 
Agreed, we are all very different and what works well for one person may cuase the next guy to fall flat on their face.

slim where have you been? i can say this about the dc stuff. i made good gains for those lifts but now that i am training for a meet i can tel that i lost some PLing strength. after the meet ill finish my mods up and send you a copy. i got the back and leg portion dialed in. need to figure out how to incorporate PLing movements for chest, shoulders ands tris. ill get it in feb. you may find it to you liking. hell daunte may like it. he needs to thicken up some anyway. :)
 
Mendleson is in an add in PL USA this month that states 713, but hell it's an add for a supplement company. They will say anything--lol.
