Ive just seen the now old video 'The Unbeleivable' and was astonished at the half reps he does.

Does anyone else do a small range of movement like him?

Big nasty is tha shiznit no doubt. You want to see Dorian in blood and guts. He doesnt string two words together, just grunts alot.

Those half reps he does are more intense than full reps. He is keeping constant tension on the muscle. If you don't believe me, try them next time. In the Front Squats he does, he doesn't even come up to lock out. So all that tension is constantly on his quads. In the db presses, hardly any triceps stress is involved because he's not locking out, everything stays on the pecs. Try that next time you train chest. It looks strange on dvd, but it is very effective.

Peace,
Beef

my personal experience falls in line with this idea. partial reps, even if the ROM is only slightly reduced produces a greater "strain" (for lack of a better word to describe the feeling) on the muscle

I believe in full range of motion, followed by partial reps. when one can no longer do full range.

Good for you... When you win the olympia that will mean something but as for now it means diddlyshit...

Relax man he was just saying what works for him.

My opinion - I do full reps b/c half reps make your muscles a lot tighter; that doesn't mix w/ football..

This is also true, which is why I use both.

Anyway, with regards to the light weights - everyone knows that lactic acid is good for your joints. What does light weights/high reps produce a lot of? You got it, lactic acid. I like to do high rep work alongside my heavy work for this reason, amongst other reasons.

Ya he really needs to find another method of training because what he's doing clearly isn't working for him. :insane2: :spank:

Oh wait, I forgot. He's technically tied for the best body for the longest amount of time in human history... I guess it is working.

While I've heard this exact criticism many times before (mainly from noobs), there are reasons that you obviously didn't think of before writing this post.
For a 300+ lb man to have spectacular form is physically impossible in alot of lifts (do you think he can touch his shoulders with those biceps for bicep curls, or take those dumbells into or below his massive chest?). He specifically addressed this issue at his weekend with Ronnie getaway, and the main reason he stated is not locking out on his lifts does't put the strain / wear&tear on his joints and tendons that he would otherwise endure. I can't imaging locking out with a 500lb bench or and 800lb squat would allow you to keep those excercises up for long.
Another reason he stated that has already been pointed out is that not locking out on many lifts makes them much more difficult, not easier or sloppy. This is one of the reason that the man is 43 and has had one of the longest most succesful careers ever with VERY few injuries to speak of.

Bro, sometimes you need to place yourself in the other persons shoes and think from that perspective, no more armchair quarterbacks please!

The truth has been told...

the thing to realize is that ronnie is ronnie the same way you shouldnot copy chuck vogelpohl

the idea is to see what it is he does notice that he hits the compund moves for low reps and heavy weight..granted i dont think people here should use his routine but just take note that he squats heavy pulls heavy and benches heavy
