Wondering if anyone has one of those nautilus plate load bent over row machines? I tried it today just because i wanted hit a different angle and it seems to be good..the only difference is that your palms face your sides rather than behind you as in a regualr BB row..I just hate the thought of using a machine

I hate that machine. If its the one where theres a pad that supports your torso, id leave it for the pilates crowd.
No its not a padded t-bar row....its the exact same motion as BB rows except you get the leverage from the machine lol..

Pullin- Im shocked i was hoping you would tell me to stick with reg BB rows???

is it hammer strength? im a big fan of hammer strength myself, dont replace free weights with it, but if i have the means i always incorporate it in.

made by nautilus..i just checked their web site..its on the commercial fitness page they call it t-bar row??? but its not that goofy one with the pad lol..think ill work it for a few weeks so how goes it..

dont fret BB i am a free weight man from way back. i do however stroll out into the front room at our gym where the machines are. my biggest prob is that i have to add plate and db to the stacks to get some reps in. even the hammer strength stuff i have out grown. not all but most.

I love the hammer machines but yeah they have the most riduclous leverage to make the frat-boys who use them feel like big men

the weird thing is when i see guys using a plate & change a side on them, wtf.. even a 225 bencher should be able to move 4 plates on those things.

that nautilus row is good if its th eone im thinking of

lol..i hear ya on that too..why do they make the hammer machines so small that you cant get more plates on? i cant get any more plates on the hack machine ( i do them in reverse)..i asked one of the trainers at the gym if they would get 100 lb plates he laughed!!

Funny you should mention that meatball..This machine is tucked away in the corner but when i went over there i think there were a ton of 25's and dimes around the machine..i was like wtf?? i worked up to 7 plates a side for 5 reps.but again like pullin said you start to run out of room..maybe only another plate or 2 and then what to do? no t- rows in the corner they freak when i do that lol

I'm using 5 plates a side on the Hammer high rows, and I only row mid 3s for maybe 6 reps, pronated with straps.

yeah it's ridiculous.. I cant row more than 275 with good form but 5 plates a side on the hammer row is cake, I got 7 plates on the wide chest for a few reps last time I tried it.

If you guys ever see any of the southern xercise tru-line try them, they're like the anti hammer, you can use maybe 50% of your freeweight with them (the way it should be.. machines shouldnt let you 'lift' a lot more than you really can)

our high row holds six aside. thats a good tug for me. usually that s my last back movment and i ge tit for 5 or 6 reps with strict form. no strappers either. our low row holds 6 or 7 per side but i can pull that all day. we have 150 db but ican 1 arm them all day too. we do have a tee bar that'll hold far more than i can do. i dont know why they make some machines easy and others more difficult. comparitivally speaking. but you know what the bbs hold all i want and still laugh at my ass. very humbling.

I do the high row after my deads and bent rows and I can still get a good clean 6 with 5 plates, or 10 with 205 (4 plates & a quarter), that is with straps. I dont pull these ultra slow but if and when I get a good amount of strength I will need to do so obviously, but I consider it a clean rep.

Once I put straps in my routine my back strength shot up bigtime, I was dealing with bent barbells all the time torsion twisting out of my hands holding my rows to no more than 285 for my sets, I couldn't hold the shit. So once I went straps, back lifts are my strongest lifts (other than my dead I spose).

I've been clean for a week now so I'm not looking for PRs anytime soon, but just to maintain my strength, obviously too soon to tell how that will do. For me my back is reasonably strong compared to the rest of my numbers. I still feel small, but FWIW I have a relaxed, 51" chest measurement, after having lost almost 20 pounds (dieting down).

yeah i think the machines ar ok for a change of pace helps you get the groove.. I tried the high row seems like i felt it a ton more in my bicep and shoulder rather than back..but sounds like you guys like em!

i really like the high row cause i dont do overhead movements. this machine lets me get that type of feel without going overhead. I have all my trainees at the gym to use this machine on back day. it supports the chest and helps to teach good form. i like the low row too but like isaid i out grew it.

overall hammer strength stuff is good equipment to incoorporate into a free weight/compound movement based routine. IMHO

i like the fact that mudge is contuinuing to pound after he cycles off. this is one of the biggest mistakes guys make after coming off. and one of the culprits of lost muscle mass and strength. juice by itself does little to build lean muscle. weight traing and nutrition are paramount. so... why would you stop these after stopping cycle? who knows. normally after cycling off estrogen rears its ugly head. i have seen grown men become sniveling little bitches a few weeks after coming "off". why? several factors here. poor stack (based solely on andros), lack of post cycle therapy (pct) if needed, lack of proper pro and carbs, depression, ego and numero uno on the list not enough gym time. guys you gotta "man up" while off. i dont know any other way to put it. train smart, eat right, have a plan and stick to it. you gottas show coming up inn six months? nows the time to be working you ass off. gotta meet coming up in 16 weeks? get you ass inthe gym and start hitting it heavy. the battle is within yourselves. not with the guy next to you. be strong, be encouraged but most of all be in the gym.
