seems everyone can bench 300lb and has big arms on this forum

I just came to the realization that you just started working out 7 weeks ago, presumably for the first time ever.

That's why you look small. Patience man. Shit doesn't spring up over night.

Good point hes been training for 7 weeks and wants to be the strongest and biggest in the gym. its good to have goals, but they need to be realistic.

If you can't bench 300lbs who cares, stay strict with what you can manage you will get there 1 day.

Be happy with what you have to start with. I want to be younger damnit! but that isn't happening so I'm happy with the cards I was dealt.

You can get bigger and stronger over time. In the end other guys are impressed with heavy lifts in the gym but women are impressed with the look. Who do you want to impress?

Exactly!!! I'm the type that doesn't socialize at the gym. I don't care who thinks what I'd me. As long as in the summer when the shirts of and all the ladies are saying damn I'd hit that. Well that's what i like. I earned this body. So its nice to receive pay for the dedication I give. Just remember to work hard. It doesn't come overnight and its not the juice. It's how to eat and train yourself with good will power to say no to that cookie or large pizza that I would love to kill. To many people come on here and are just to lazy to do it the right way. Lift hard and diet for a few years and not to resort to aas. Which most think that's the anwser which clearly isn't.

That is really interesting, just shows the difference between people I guess.

I can bench 315x3 but can't work out with more than 90lb. DB's yet.

get off the bench son....hit the dbells more and you will be very happy with your chest progression. Try some fly aways or triple dumbell presses...wreak havoc on your pecs!

The bench press isnt even in my workout program at the moment...not missing it either

A lot of shoulders have been wrecked by the bench. I just can''t get away from it. It's too hammered into my head from so many years. I've had shoulder problems in the past but they seem to have healed on their own. Very weird.

I walked away from behind the neck military presses though

Same here flat bench has been taken out of my workout for the last 3-6 months and im not missing it either, chest has grew alot since taking it out.

Incline dumbells, decline barbell and flys for me, I don't do any flat at the minuite :)

I was in the 300lb club in high school, long before I ever thought about gear. I'm tall and lanky, my arms are maybe 16 - 16.5 but i've always been strong as fuck!

I don't really care how much i can bench, i care more about what i look like with my shirt off.

You have 16" arms and can only curl 115 pounds 4 reps? I have around 13" arms and used to curl 135x6. But I was curling every other day for weeks and my strength sky rocketed for my arms.

wow, where to begin, well to start off everyone is different, I myself stand 5'6 , look like i should be benching round 375-400 lbs
in reality because im on a cut right now, i can barely push up 275 for one rep, now i use proper form, bring it all the way down to chest and back up
a lot of ppl dont do that, they will do half of a quarter rep, and claim it as one full rep smh
2. everybody's size is diff a guy standing 6 ft and taller can have 16+ inch arms and will look puny
I have 17.5 in arms (cold) and they look as if they'd be bigger.
3. taller people are naturally stronger than shorter ppl, its a scientific fact.
4. ive seen guys that are about 1-2 inches taller than me some even the same height as me benching 350 + no problem.
so once again everyone is different.
now depending on what you want accomplish depends on how u werkout
u wanna look good werkout to look good
u wanna be strong as fok, werkout accordingly.
juss saying.:Playboy:

This is so sweet everyone bonding over our tities..OP screw what weight you can put up bro its what you put into it there are guys that can put up 500 and more and still get steam rolled by a guy who only puts up 125 hell if that...set your goals the guys bragging about what they put up are either begginers or idiots and if im working out in a gym im a asshole I put on the biggest dick face face I can so no one will talk to me comcentrate on your self is the moral of this post and good luck bud

zeek man you know better than anyone that barbell bench is mainly shoulders and you have the scars to prove it. Get off that bench brotha lol oh and behind the head presses are bad news

long....decline barbell is even worse then flat brotha...decline dumbells. You will notice a better formed chest with dumbells as you proly already are.

and its not new news that size doesnt equal strength. Just cause your huge doesnt mean your strong.

balboa, put some dam commas and periods in your posts lol but dont be like bullseye either...happy median

I normally alternate between the 2 bud, i personally prefer barbell as its comfier on decline for me, but the dumbells do seem to hit the chest better.

I've gone through so many forum posts... I'm amazed by the number of people starting first cycles who claim they can bench over 300lb and have 17"+ arms at 5'9 etc...

I look at my 7 week body after 8 years off, and I am starting to see some shape and size. People in my gym start looking at me like I'm on steroids... as I've gone from 85kg to 108kg in 7 weeks (actually did it quicker but plateaued now).

Now I'm 194cm tall so my bones are long and thin. However, I have arms just over 16" but for some reason they look bigger than half the 17-18" arms I see on these forums. Also my strength appears to be double those of people with bigger arms... and I consider my form pretty good.

So, looking at the various gyms I've trained at - I see no more than 1% of guys who can bench 300lb+, but why on this forum everyone seems to be able to bench it :wtf:

I can dumbbell bench 110lb each arm full ROM which is probably much more than that of a short guy (even though my chest is tiny as you can see on the pics), I can military press 225lb on smith machine for 6 reps, barbell curl 115lb for 4 reps and skull crush 120lb for 4 reps....

Seriously, are people exaggerating their lifts or arm sizes here?????

I'm so ashamed that my arms are 16". I must have the shittiest genetics.

alot of peopel are full of BS.
i onyl bench with dbls 60-90lb each db (depending on day and angle)

what i have found is tryign to bench as much as you can (when your not even apowerlifter, but are a bodybuilder) is your limiting yourself AND addign to the chance of injury uneededly.
i mean where else are you goign to go?
i use 50-70lb db's each arem when i do bicep curls. i started at only 30lb each YEARS ago. and yet i have MUCH bigger arms then some of the guys i see claiming to do much more!?!?
eather there full of shit or they are pushing them selfs unneededly.
this is not a MACHOMAN show, its body building. you should only higher lbs ad you are passing 9 reps a set tryign to keep it at around 6-8reps a set (in my op)
this guy i know looks at me and says "are thos only 45lb bumbels?" I say yah so what im not a power lifter im bodybuilding and im not trying to show off on "how much i can bench or curl"

note im mush biddy then this guy (muscle wise as he carry more fat then me. iim probibly around 12-15% and hes probiby 20%bf.)
my point?

just because you puch to bench the most dosent mean your gonne be gettign bigger, you might acualyl me limiting yourself.

its not about HOW MUCH you can lift its abotu HOW you lift (and i dont mean just the angel or style, i mean your whole set up)

just my 0.2

Boa you knoe I love you but I hate reading your posts

Lol.. Bigherm, and 200, my friends. I will start working on my grammar so my posts are readable. I would like to take this moment to thank you both for your support in my grammar. With the plethora of knowledge I reveal in each of my posts, it's only right I spread it through legitimate grammar. All concussions aside, I think my brain still responds well. So without further ado to my good friends, Mr.Herm, and Mr.200, enjoy my grammar for all my future posts.

Sincerely,

Balboa270

oh man Im glad I got my hip waders on lol

I'm just going to point out that in the gym the only person I compete with is myself....well except when this one hot ass chick is working the desk

I really don't get caught up in weights that much anymore. In HS I did, but then it "mattered." (Playing football, wanted to get recruited, yadda yadda yadda) I haven't seriously maxed out since HS and people all the time ask me how much I lift and when I honestly answer them "I don't know" I get some weird looks.

We have similar stats, I'm 6' 4" 240lbs. It takes freaking hard ass work and a long ass time to put any sort of mass on my damn wingspan. But I will say 6' 4" with decent muscle mass......ladies love that shit :druggie:

I'm actually surprised you can't bench over 300lbs and you can db bench 110s especially with your longer arms. It took me a long time to get my db bench over 100lbs after I hit 315 for the first time. Do yourself a favor and drop the skull crushers for something like pushdowns. I can't even do them anymore because of pain from repetitive stress. Just to show you how honest I am I can only curl 90lbs on the ez bar for 7-10 reps with good form.

By the way, if barely anyone can throw up 315 at least once I suggest you switch gyms. I was fortunate enough to start out in a gym full of monsters. Nobody likes to be the smallest fish in the pond and it forces you to get your weight up. It may stimulate your ego to be the biggest fish, but it certainly won't help you.

Edit: Those are low reps for isolation exercises you mentioned. Keep the low reps for the big stuff.
