shoulder injury/ stiff neck lasting 2 weeks

2 weeks ago i guesse i lifted to heavy and used bad form for dumbells shrugs. the next day my left side of neck was stiff, and shoulder, all the way down to bottom of my shoulder blade on left side were in a shit load of pain. I took a week off as i cudnt even move or sleep.. after a week it was ALOT better as if only another day and id be good... then I wake up This morning and Boom its back to day one. Stiff and sore as hell again liek i re injured it and hadnt even lifted a weight in a week... ive just been resting it....

took a t3 today, but should i go to a chiro or a doctor...
 
I used to get this from time to time doing shrugs, you probably have a big knot underneath you scapula or something like that. Correct your form and this shudnt happen again. Stand upright, shoulders back and blades pinched, if you happen to lose this form and become sloppy the weight is too heavy. Id go get a deep tissue massage and see a chiropractor. Thats the only thing that helped me. Dot forget to stretch too once your workout is done, and any time throughout the day when your not working out.
 
I used to periodically get a really stiff and painful neck for a couple weeks at a time. It would happen randomly. I went to see a Chiropractor, and I have a couple ribs that like to pop out of place. It irritates the muscle and causes knots. Go see a Chiro. I'm willing to bet you have ribs out of place.
 
injury is a part of the territory.


in the last 4 months i have experience a hernia, concussion, knee injury.. and gotten sick like a dog..

it sucks.. you deal with it

brother I'm cursed with those bastards all the time. I think it's how I sleep and then it's tight when I train. go get deep massage, but be prepared they usually hurt like hell until they release. I almost smacked a massage therapist one time. he got the knot out though. do like Schroeder said and you'll be good to go. tip......never ever start a workout with shrugs or even worse upright rows. almost a guaranteed muscle knot or pinched nerve. my 2cnts.
