shoulder tear surgery soon.should I stop my trt dosage?

willypct40

here to learn
I've been on testosterone for a year know.between 150-200mg a week.I will be having
surgery in November for a small rotator cuff tear that I've had for almost a year.
Should I stop and pct or just keep cruising to help prevent muscle lost.
Has anyone been in this situation. What
should I do.my surgeon does not known im on testosterone.

I take it this is not doctor prescribed TRT? How do you feel about lying on your medical history form going into surgery?
If you're planning on coming off anyway then maybe it's a good time if you can get it done before your surgery.
If not, I'd consider going down to a minimum TRT dose, no AI or other ancillaries so that the only thing in your system that the surgeon doesn't know about is bioidentical test.

Im self prescribed for a lil over a year. Test e sometimes test c 150-200.
Im thinking this might help preserve muscle in the 3 or more months that im gonna
be out of the gym.

Do not stop IMO, Testosterone serves many purposed other that muscle building. I had a hernia surgery a number of weeks back and didn't stop, Doctor didn't want me to, he was a good guy to deal with. How many weeks did the Doc say until you will be healed.

I got my mri and it reads :supraspinatous tendinosis with minimal insertional tear of the distal
Supraspinatous tendon. last time I saw the doc 2 weeks ago he told me that tears are better dealt
with arthroscopic surgery . ive had this pain my lft shoulder since late December but a cortisone shot
that he gave me on February took care of it until last month. my next appointment is on Friday and I will
discuss the recovery.

I did the shot on april stop lifting completely for a month (his instructions).then went back very light.
I though I was cured because this guy cured my tennis elbow with a single cortisone shot 2 years
ago.last month after doing heavy benching the shoulder pain creep up again.

Don't stop TRT. Men need teatosterone.

If it is a "minimal tear" why not just rest and let it heal itself?

By the way, cortisone does not cure. It simply masks the pain.

I was going to say the same thing. The cortisone shot just masks the pain therefore allowing you to continue rehabilitation. I'm surprised your DR didn't put you into a rehabilitation program. Usually insurance companies want to see a certain protocol was tried before authorizing surgery.

By the way, don't get anymore cortisone shots. They are only going to weaken the structure even more. I would try some TB500 if you can afford it and rehabilitation before opting for surgery.

You might want to research TB500 OP... I'm trialling it right now for a triceps tear after reading some great reviews...

Read up on it bro :)

A guy were I work also had a minimal tear It took him a year to feel better and when he returned
to the gym his shoulder started to hurt again. When you look at it ,for the tear to get better without
surgery you got to laid of the weights for 6 months or more. Surgery is arthroscopic and In 3 months
I should be back to the gym.having the surgery outweighs letting it heal by itself.

I read an article on another forum which said that tb500 has shown to increase cancerous cell
in studies that they've done that's why it has not been considered for human use. that made me not want to
tried it.

I heard all about the 3 months recovery. Both of my surgeries took about 2 years to fully recover. You will never be the same again after surgery. My shoulders will never be right, but I've learned to live with it.

I believe the study says it may increase cancerous cells if you already have them. There is nothing saying that TB500 causes cancer though.

Keep taking your TRT dosage, It may be a good time to bottom out your test tho and go get on a Dr perscribed dosage and perscription. As for surgery my right shoulder was operated on years ago and is in excellent condition and is as good as it was new. My left one is going to have to be operated on and since im a lil older now im sure the healing process is going to be alot different.

Captain-what type of surgery did you had done on your shoulder? 2 years is a long time. How long did it
took for you to go back to gym and do some upper body work after the surgery.
Bigben-google tb500 cancerous cell .theirs alot of talk on that subject.
turtle neck- what type of surgery did you had. was it for a tear?how long were you out of the gym

Willy,

The 1st surgery I had was a subacromial decompressionArthroscopic Subacromial Decompression - ShoulderDoc.co.uk what sucks about getting that 1st surgery was that is was a shitty work comp dr that was a butcher. He was all about cutting me open and getting paid.

During the next 2 years I new my shoulder wasn't right and I went back and demanded a different dr. This time I got the San Diego Chargers team physician. Turns out I had a 10yr old S.L.A.P. tear w/bankart that was missed by the first shit head. I ended up with 5 anchors in my shoulder.

After the 2nd surgery I returned to lifting about 5 months post surgery, but wasn't "pain free" for almost 2 yrs. Its actually still a constant battle for me as im on TB500 right now fighting an array of injuries. One of the main ones being biceps tendonitis both distal and where it ties into the repaired shoulder.

This is just my personal experience that I'm sharing with you. If you opt for the surgery just make sure you do some good research on the dr you choose.

if you're on it for TRT purposes whether prescribed or not, and you feel it's needed for general health and sex drive etc......don't stop it even if you can't workout. I presume you still plan on banging the old lady? my 2cnts.
