Squat Reps ?

Learning the Ways
whats the ideal number of reps for squats... i just started doing them about 2 or 3 weeks ago on the hack squat machine cuzz my form sucked ass on the bar...anyways my question is how many rreps should i do to build bigger legs... i dont know whats an ideal amount of reps for legs

oh roccodart knows this.

10 usually is good but not all can do 10 reps when it's heavy. since you're doing hack machines, i'd suggest 10-15 or 20 if you can. i still want to see your form in old school squatting.

if i do 20 reps then how many sets should i do ? and if im able to do 20 reps isnt the weight too light then ?

20 reps should be done with heavy weight or weights that would make it so difficult to reach 20 reps.

i could suggest 20 reps as your last set.

here is my 2c's:

learn to squat.

do lots of ATG Oly sq's.

do lots of ATG Front sq's.

You will get big quads and glutes.

do lots of heavy RDL's.

You will get big hams too.

10's, 20's, 8's, 5's, all have their place. The hack squat machine has no place.

i agree with all of that, but if you are just starting out, i would stick to regular squats first rather than killing your legs with front squats and such. ATG stands for "ass to grass" and simply means you must completely break parallel by a long shot and go as low as humanly possibly. I advocate less weight and deeper squats. you'll see a lot of guys in the gym doing massive weight but not coming close to parallel. you wont get the full benefit of squatting if you don't go down all the way. it sounds like you have a lot of reading to do, and i'd suggest a good basic bulk (if thats what you are looking to accomplish) try the 5x5. solid routine which incorporate squatting into the program.

what's the diff between RDL and SLDL?
very little...purists would argue its to do with the distance of the bar from your body. I would say "as long as your lifts are increasing what the fuck does it matter?"
