Tendon and joint pain, how do you deal with it?

I hate pain pills. I still take the naproxen, but that's it. The epidural shots were a godsend and I'm very thankful they worked and got me off the other garbage.

Teutonic you are like the bionic man with all that hardware. I probably have an L5/S1 and L4/5 in my future as those discs are flat & about bone on bone. Can I ask how long after your fusion before you were able to powerlift again? Once it was fused up was it good to go, or still nagging?

Harnold, you can do something about golfers or tennis elbow, but it is slow & painful. If your left hand palm is facing up tennis is the outside and golfers is the inside - I've had golfers medial epicondilitis before. I think mine was from imbalance and over use, what helped was working on the muscles and tendons both sides with massage, like rolling on a lacrosse ball or digging in with fingers. Fine line between working it and aggravating it. Have to be persistent. Also worked the opposite side muscles in the forearm to try to balance out. And helped a lot to not used close hand grips when doing pullups, farmer's carry, etc. Keep your thumb on the same side as the fingers. Biggest relief was probably deca at low 200 mg/wk dose, while doing all the above - got rid of mine.

My experience with the elbow thing mirrors yours. And by mirrors I mean exactly opposite. Other side of the arm. I had to switch everything to narrow grip. Took well over a year to be rid of it as well, that sucked.

Yeah you're right about the inside and out. I ended up with both sides troubling me so no wonder I was confused..lol

I agree the epidurals worked well, but it was too late, I was hooked on the pills, not even for the buzz, it was simply to keep away the withdrawals. They are a fucking nightmare. For anyone who cares, I was getting .....wait for it,,,,,,100 Percs/5mg every Monday, plus 20 time released 40mg tabs at the same time. I was counting and rationing them out the last few days every week so I didn't run out completely, which I usually did anyway. Worked my way up to 100mcg fentnyl patches but went back to the pills. It was a bad trip.

I did try the lacrosse ball thing and was diligent with icing, and using my other hand to massage and work it out. Ice seemed to be the best, along with ibuprofen at times.

WAS a power lifter is key and sure.
My knee rehab was projected at 16 weeks...I walked out in 5 1/2 weeks. My back..same but I was done in a month: remember most rehab clinic s are owned by the doctor s doing the surgery and my doc s my buddy.
Now actually lifting..the day I walked out BUT don t be a dumbass--go slow. My ab s are extremely strong from p lifting so my back had a base.
Knee rehab is just a matter of what your made of...

No worries

That sucks, and the worst thing is, a year is nothing as far as it going away. It lingers like a bad stink. It can fuck up your whole workout routine very easily. Something I didn't mention was that elastic type wraps around my elbows and upper forearm and bicep insert did help somewhat. I'm 47 years old so wraps are not a bad thing for me anyway. I wear my old school leather belt for most everything as well. Old back injuries will flare up easily if I don't pay close attention to form. You know, sometimes I wonder why we do this shit..lol

Glad to be back around brother. Been working a lot in the air, and training as hard as possible. If I'd have known you put that avatar up, I would have come back earlier. :)

That stuff almost killed me

Between taking about 15 Percs with acetaminophen a day, to the addition of 40mg time released Oxys daily, crushing them up and snorting them, to chewing those fuckers up, the doctor put me on 100mcg fentanyl patches at one point. If I hadn't woke the fuck up, got angry, and quit cold turkey on them all, I'd have been dead in 6 months I'm convinced. Quitting cold turkey almost killed me in itself. Was awake 5 days straight from insomnia, sicker than fuck, cramps, the shits, and the insomnia side effect makes sure you're awake for every suffering moment. Never told my doctor until after, and he was shocked I didn't go into seizures or stroke out during the withdrawals. It was somewhere between 8-12 weeks before I could even function. Good old workers compensation made me go back to work on the medications and that was in my police car....lol.....no shit. I was higher than the people I was arresting. Not to mention throwing up out the police car window from car sickness, and frequent bathroom trips, etc....I should write a fucking book..lol....longer than the one I just typed.haha
Motto, stay the fuck away from pain pills, far away. Sorry for the long message. :)
