That was actually a bounce pad under his shirt and that is how shotputters are taught to bench press, the bounce has a big carry over to actually throwing the shot put. Just read this on another board. Thought some of you guys may like to know

Interesting...

I've worked with shot putters and they never did such a thing.

We worked on their strict pressing, flat pressing, inclines, push presses, jerks, rotators, etc...and it seemed to do wonders for them.

We have a guy at my gym that does that lift with 315 lb. for 6 or so reps... I'll ask him what the deal is also, I was curious anyways.
