Too Young?

My little bro is 12 years old. He is starting to get the typical american kid syndrome. I'd like to start taking him to the gym and showing him 'the ropes'. Get him on a rountine. Nothing too heavy. Do you think 12 years is too young for hitting the weights?

If I were twelve again, then I would be lifting hard. But on the other hand, I was fully grown at age twelve and I remember that puberty was hard enough on my joints w/o lifting.

Come to think of it, maybe I wasn't fully grown until age 13. ah well, close enough.

thats great if he wants to do it. let him have fun with it.

I started at 13 and I'm really happy that I got a couple extra years under my belt than most 20 year olds.

i started at 12-13 YOA...i think it would be a great start for him...FORM should be his biggest learning tool right now...

Test-E 50mg/wk.

I agree. Better to have him learn correct form from the very beginning than have him have to change it years down the road. It kills me seeing all these young kids doing HORRIBLE form on an exercise.

Not even funny

just pointing out that this board is FULL of young fools cluless to BBing/PLing, yet injecting hormones into their undeveloped bodies.

And my joke was a lil funny

I hear ya Vennom. I get so mad when I see kids with terrible form, it makes me wonder where they learn it from. If they learn it at all. I also see grown men doing everything wrong. Bouncing when they lift and letting the weight go and slam back on the machine. Gets under my skin. That is why I want to go ahead and show my little bro how to get it right.

B. Reel - I thought it was funny.

I can definately tell you that I wish I trained hardcore when I was 12. Imagine the type of physique he could have by the time he hit 16 - right when you really wanna mack on all the bitches. I woulda loved being all big and strong. Imagine being able to kick the grade 12's asses when your in grade 9! I couldn't cuz I used to be a skinny as mofo...

I say hard lifting may not be great for a young kid, but it is DEFINATELY better than sitting on his ass playing video games all day. Start him off light and teach him form.

And the comment about Test E @ 500mg/week was just stupid. He's a 12 year old kid for god sakes, everyone knows that at that age he will be much more responsive to 100-120mg dbol 2ED.

I started lifting pretty young but I only did biceps and bench. Get him started off right.

I think most kids start this way. That's why I'm glad I had time to set myself straight.

Help him the right way and he's gonna be great. And if he likes it and gets into it he could go very far starting at that age.

The only problem with the gym I go to, is that they don't allow kids under 16 to go. I'm not sure how to show him if I can't take him.

Look for a cheap weight set you can setup at home and show him the basics...he doesn't need to be concentrating on a lot of isolation work...and, if he's a future football player, PLEASE show him what a proper squat looks like...I swear, most high school football players have no idea what they're doing...and their coaches are no help...

Good idea on the weight set, but the only problem with that is...I have no room to set up a weight set. European houses are small, and no garage.

Trust me, i'll be showing him the proper way. I get so tired of seeing people at the gym not knowing how to lift at all. I wish I had a camera so I could post the video's on here and show you guys the funny stuff I see there.

sometimes at my gym it seems like a fuking playground. like the middle school kids are on a field trip. i would have no problem with them being there, if they showed some edicate and didn't mess around the whole time.
