I workout at 7pm and by the time i get back to my house then down a shake and eat 30minutes after that. I just shower and try and pass out, but seems that i cant get to bed.

THis sucks cause i have to be at work at 7am and if i dont sleep 7-8 hours i have a freaking hard time getting up.

Anyone got any suggestions, cuase coming into work late is not an option.

Thanks guys

Assuming you cannot move training to a different time, you could always try taking a sleep aid. If I were you, I'd try going to bed earlier, get up earlier and try to workout before work. That might be hard depending on how long your workouts last, where your gym is, showering before work, etc...

I workout in the PM lately, but I'm usually wiped out when I go to bed and have no trouble sleeping. Funny, because I usually suffer from insomnia real bad but haven't had it since I started PM workouts.
Anyway, if you decide to take a sleep aid, you could start with some simple over the counter stuff. A lot of guys like melatonin.

thanks, I will try that.

HOneslty i gotta get on a better sleeping schedule its affecting my class\work etc.

Might go buy some over the counter stuff and see how it goes

Sublingual melatonin works well for me. First tim ei took it I took what i would take with the regular tabs and i woke up feeling like i got hit by a bus. They sell 3mg tabs at costco up here. I would start with 1 of those and not 3.

yeah i want to wake up feeling good haha

I actually started drinking black coffee and love the stuff in the morning.

Is there no way to train earlier? Do you listen to music or watch TV at home? Killing those things helps me wind down, but some nights I have the same problem.

I hit the gym around 8-8:30 PM and I get up at 6AM and I need lots of sleep, I'm not one of those people that sleeps 5 hours a night (routinely) and jumps out of bed.

common problem - at least for me. my workouts are between 8:30-10pm daily, and i have to be at work at 0700. that leaves me with very little time to sleep. not a problem IF i can fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. instead, i lay in bed on the web, reading, etc for hours every night. sucks major root. once in a while i'm forced to take some kind of sleep aid (not over the counter either).

check out the hoes at myspace...that'll kill some time:

I personally don't like sleeping pills because from what I've heard your body can adapt to them and it can become addictive. A small dose of scotch always does it for me. I don't know how healthy that is tho, because sleeping isn't always an issue for me.

If you want something relatively safe ask a doctor about Rozerum all it does is make more of the melotonin, that your body produces, available. It's safer than tylenol pm and not habit forming. And the doc said that most people expirience little to no "hangover" when using this

Valerian root or kava are nice for relaxing you before bed. I had a similar problem, kinda.

When I get home from work, I'm pretty tired. So I would take stims to jack me up for my workout, then it would be hard to get to sleep consequently. My solution was to get up ridiculously early and lift BEFORE work. It took some getting used to, of course. But it works for me.

I meant that too much melatonin can cause that. I used to take like 10mg of the stuff in regular tabs and wake up feeling great. The sublingual tabs seem to be much stronger though.

Another option: on nights when you DON'T work out, hit the rack very early. This will get your body sorta on schedule to rack out early; and make it easier to fall asleep the other nights. Works for me, sometimes.

Just smoke a joint....

It's healthier than whatever you can buy OTC or by a Drug dealer with a PHD (doctor)

So putting smoke in your lungs is better than taking some melatonin? Bullshit. Coupled with the fact that marijuana is illegal and slightly harder to procure, this assertion just doesn't make sense.
