I was lifting every single day hard as fk and consuming 5k cals a day... got stuck at 158 (im only 5'7) ... i read alot to just lift fewer days per week but.. if its almost impossible for me to get sore no matter how hard i train... wouldnt it be better to just lift every day and just consume more calories? Anyone else out there with crazy fast metabolism that bulked up good? hook a brotha up!

I find that more rest is better for me. I only ever get sore in my legs, sometimes shoulders, but I don't use that as a guide. I make the best progress with one on one off, and I do a modified "push pull legs" type thing, but each day is two leg movements, one push movement, one pull movement. So it's a semi-full body workout each time. I'm 5'8 170, 12-13% BF. Winter is coming though so I'm gonna put on weight and not care about BF% for a few months.

If I was on gear I'd workout every day.

You need to give muscles time to repair, maybe thats why you're stalling.

When I stall I will switch rep ranges. I'm if doing 4 sets of 6 with heavy weight, I'll switch to 3 sets of 10, and vice versa.

Hard gainer is a bullshit term invented by the supplement industry to sell your shit.

You'll make no gains as you've mentally labeled yourself a "hard gainer" aka beta.

If you're truly one of the rare individuals who can't promote protein synthesis via progressive overload even steroids can't even help you - it's mother natures way of saying "fuck you".

If your truly eating 5K cals a day consistently and are at 158lbs you may want to get blood work done cause that's pretty crazy and there has to be an underlying issue to it. you'd be in the 8-9k range above 200lbs.
It just does not make sense

What are you using for macros, lay out your diet maybe there is an issue there.
As stated hardgainer is a term used as a marketing tool, in reality with proper diet, rest and exercise everyone can progress and at 158 at 5'7 I'm pretty sure you are not at your genetic limit.

Sleep and nutrtion is more important then your work out. Can't out work a shitty diet and no sleep equals no growth. You grow when you're sleeping not when you're working out

Starting to put on weight again. Had to increase cals. I literally consume 5k a day.. at least 2-3 in whole foods and 2400 in shakes... My diet consists of weight gainer/brown rice/chicken breast/milk/peanut butter/almond butter/dirty pasta from time to time and every now and then some fast food(not often).. Results seem to start pouring in again after i made it a JOB to consume every 3 hours from 8am to 11pm (6 meals a day)... i lift mon-fri hitting one muscle group per week like a champ with how my split works.. i try to not stay in the gym for more than a hour per session

any thoughts?

I use to think I was a "hard gainer" until I really learned about diet. I thought I was eating a lot more than I was and the other thing is not all calories are created equal. 200/400/100 protein/carbs/fat is where I really started to grow like a beast. Thats less than 4000 cals a day and i promise you'll grow!

Another thing, 2400 cals a day in shakes is a lot! Do you perhaps get the shits a lot? It would make a lot of sense if you were cuz you are literally shitting out unabsorbed cals at that point. I've had that issue in the past.

weight gainer shakes are not worth it...just make your own weight gainer.

1scoop protein powder
alternating between half jar peanut butter and half jar almond butter
2cups fruits

When I was bulking I would drink one of these a day right before bed and I literally blew the fuck up, was also not on aas

My 1000 cal shake

1 banana
1 cup oatmeal
1 heaping scoop of peanut butter
1 scoop whey
24 oz of 2% milk

I think it's like 950-1050 cals
50+ pro
60+ carbs

Just eat more simplex carbs if calories is what deficient in your diet.

The best thing about simplex carbs is half and hour later you're hungry again.
