trying to repair a torn quad quicker

ok i am on a stus 300 + deca (only 1cc of stus and 1/2 of deca, every 10 days, yeah it sounds low but i gain like a whore at that small dosage,195 to 214 in 30 days) anyway back to the subject. i tore my left quad warming up on squats. did empty bar for 15 then 135 for 15 then 225 2nd rep it torn on the way down 1/4 way in the stroke. heard and felt it . it is only torn 1/2 way across, so i have something to work with. ortho said i was healing quickly but i need to get back to working legs ASAP. its been 3 weeks this coming sunday since it was torn. i have been doing laser treatments (do any of you have any history with this www.lasersforhealing.com (its not this model but something like it.) i have been intaking 200 grams of protein in the form of shakes and then whatever food i eat (no diet or anything right now) i have also been for a ultra sound to help with scar tissue formation. any advice , directions or path you can point me down would be greatly appreciated.untill then i guess i'll be doing alot of upper body (oh joy)

i have a lot of experience coming back from this injury. about a year and a half ago i ruptured my rectus running a 40-yard dash at a combine. the sucker popped and i was face first into the ground and rolling in agony right in front of a 49ers scout. good times.

i don't know how bad your injury is, and this isn't meant to scare you, but my leg will never be 100% again. When I'm taking care of it I have probably 95% function, but there will always be a significant divot in my quad. Additionally, when I don't pay attention to taking care of the leg, function drops to probably 75%, with most of the disability coming from severe cramping just above the tear.

I was absolutely dependent on Active Release, Graston, and Laser therapy techniques to achieve the healing that I did. Before getting that work done, I had given the muscle three months to heal on its own and and after all that time I still couldn't do a bodyweight squat without the leg locking down on me.

My advice is to find a good ART provider. Good to www.activerelease.com to find one. Mine also happened to provide the Graston techniques, which did a phenomenal job of breaking up the enormous amounts of scar tissue in the injury. I am a huge believer in the cold laser therapy, but I don't think that alone is going to get you what you want. In my case, the laser therapy came later down the road to begin retraining the fibers how to operate after they had mostly healed.

Best of luck!

oh, don't buy a laser product. the one that the doc used on me that was so highly effective goes for about 15k. i doubt you'll get much worthwhile out of a home version.

Time, lots of it. And treatments (laser, ultrasound, rehab, etc.). Lots of that too. A torn quad (even partially torn, like you described) isn't something that you can return from quickly at all. I'd say you're looking at at least 4-6 months of good healing to be back to normal. And, if you only partially tore one of the muscles (and this depends largely on where the tear is..........obviously a tear to the quad tendon would be worse than in one of the individual muscles themselves) working back too quickly just sets you up for worse injury and a longer delay in healing.

Ive torn my calf completely about 8 years ago. Found a nice doc, a nice rehab clinic, they really fixed me up, now i dont even feel like its been torn. Happy and doing 800+ pound calf raises :). Dont let it get u down.
