unable to sleep after leg workout HELP!

I work out monday wednesday fridays and saturdays. tuesdays and thursdays i do low intensity cardio. i always do legs on monday. one week heavy one week light with alot of reps. this is what my leg workout consisted of yesterday.

leg extensions 5 sets
60 pounds 20 times
100 pounds 15 times
130 pounds 12 times
160 pounds 10 times
190 pounds 8 times
super setted with squats holding a 45 plate 10 reps for 5 sets

squats 5 sets
135 pounds 20 times
225 12 times
245 10 times
275 8 times
135 20 times

leg press 3 sets
400 pounds 12 times
400 pounds 12 times
400 pounds 12 times

standing leg curls 3 sets
75 pounds 10 times
75 pounds 10 times
75 pounds 10 times
supersetted with laying leg curls
100 pounds 10 times

i eat about 6 times a day and drink plenty of water. yesterday my post workout meal (8:40ish pm) was sweet potatoe and lean steak. about 2 hours later (11 pm) 5oz ground turkey with 5oz veggies.
no matter if i go light or heavy i tend to push y legs hard because i like working out legs.. but its been 3 mondays that i dont sleep.
can anyone tell me whats causing this?
im aware i might be over training?
has this happened to anyone else?
yesterday i texted my girl at 6am because i was still awake and i knew shed be getting up to go to school. kinda sucks not sleeping cuz no sleep = no growth. any advice?

Well for me when my sleep gets messed up that is usually my first sign of over training. But try some other things like melatonin and a Tylenol PM first. And see what happens.
 
nice i hadnt post this before because i didnt think it was a big deal but yesterday i was up to almost 7am... all night.. i ddint want to take anything.. not before asking anyways. ill def try melatonin. should i take it only on mondays so my body doesnt get to used to it? or should i take it everyday?

I use the tylenol pm a few times a week and my body hasn't adjusted. Shouldn't need to worry about upping the dosage or anything but everyday might be a bit much. I especially use it on pinning days.
 
Lol my brother used to take seroquel after he got into an accident cuz he ha trouble sleeping and it helped with his recovery. But those r powerful pills an expensive I think I'll try melatonin lmao

I take 600mg EVERY night! You get used to it after a while but it is great for people who have the odd sleepless night. Definitely give Melatonin a go. If you want, take 50mg of diphenhydramine with it. It's an antihistamine that will help you nod off too. You can order it really cheap on eBay. I think you guys call them Sleep-Gels.
 
man, take it from an insomniac, don't get into that over the counter shit. I currently use it and have been prescribed zoplicone by my doctor. the scrip won't even work without the OTC . it sucks, because I get to sleep but the smallest little thing wakes me up, I'm fcked for the night then.

in my humble opinion I believe you are overtraining, plain and simple. it's right there in type in your first post. unless you are on a steroid cycle, and maybe even then, you are overtraining. I used to run a training business so I do know a little about this.
I don't have a problem with melatonin, but I find it is more of a calm down thing early in the evening, and helps wind you down.
did you mention what time you are training?
 
i train from 7pm-9pm.. usually stretches are involved in between every set along with warmup sets. so 2 hours or less of training.
it only happens when i hit the legs though... i havent hit legs this week im planning on doing them tomorrow ( wednesday).. ill let you guys know how it went.. i bought the melatonin yesterday thinking i was going to do legs but i didnt have the energy or motivation to do them so i left it for wednesday... i like doing things 100%. thanks for all the advice guys i really appreciate it

True, it's main use is to assist the treatment and management of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, but is being used off label at significantly lower doses for people with insomnia because one if its strongest side effects is extreme drowsiness. It's probably the strongest drug out there as far as sleep (as a side effect) goes and really is used as a last resort. I don't use it for sleep. I use it for what it is designed for, an antipsychotic. Actually I use Seroquel and a concoction of other drugs. They probably do hinder my gains from training somewhat but I honestly wouldn't be here without them. Gotta take the good with the bad! I'm still becoming a monster, just a crazy monster!
 
Lol!!! Man you guys are crazy.. So I took a pill of melatonin after a leg workout and I kind of fell asleep faster but still kept waking up. At least I fell asleep quicker lmao. Rastas your crazy as hell lol and I too love your avatar
 
Dude try some Need 2 Sleep, i just got some and it makes me pass the f*ck out and stay asleep. I use it only when i am not tired and need to sleep, works wonders :D
