What am I doing wrong with my pinning?

Alright, so I've had mixed experiences with all my injections and I'm trying to figure things out. Here goes:

First time I did left quad, I had some pain, but it went away. No bump, no problem. First time I did right leg, had a bump, a little redness, took an antibiotic twice (Lunch, dinner) and an NSAID and by the next day it was down. Thought that was weird, figured antibiotics did nothing. Still, better safe than sorry. Did left delt injection, no problem, no PIP, all clear. Did right delt injection. No PIP and no problem.

So, now I'm back to injecting quads and last Thursday I injected left quad again. There was a bump, a little sore, a little tiny bit of redness. I took no antibiotics, red went away, lump is still there. Using 1 inch pins and going in deep. Decided to do my right delt (Instead of left) because I had my wife to help (Which is rare). I pinned, she pushed the plunger, I took care of the rest. Got a bit of a bump, sore 3 days out, a bit of a bump.

Today, I'm doing right quad. Not sure what to expect. It seems that one week my injection site has no issue and then the next there is an issue. It sucks. I've got no redness so I'm pretty sure there's no infection. But I can't figure out why one week I'm good and then next I'm not. Or the other way around where one week things suck and then they're OK.

Any possible reasons based on experience guys? Hope my right quad doesn't get too sore...

I should add that during my workouts the pain isn't present. The intensity of the workout has me in more pain overall (in a good way) that distracts from the injection sites. Going to take a bath and hopefully get my muscles relaxed before injecting.

It can just be that your muscle is still relatively new to pinning and you are getting some inflammation. Be sure to inject very slow and try not to move the needle around once it is in. Also, be sure that you are letting the alcohol completely dry before drawing your meds and also dry on your skin before injecting. If quads seem to be more of a problem, double check your location. If you divide your upper leg in three parts, make sure you are injecting in the middle outer part of your quad.

I'm guessing the redness is irritation and not infection. I don't think antibiotics work that quickly or are effective when you take them for just one day, though maybe you using an antibiotic I'm not familiar with.

Yeah, I figured the antibiotic was not what kicked the redness out, but for the purpose of the thread I thought I would mention it.

I left the alcohol dry on both the skin and vial tab. Although I must say that when doing my hcg injections before (When I was having IM injections in office) I would wipe with the alcohol, and inject subq right away and never had any irritation. Not sure if IM would be different but I do make sure it's dry.

As far as not moving the needle around, I try REALLY hard but when aspirating I do move it around, it's tricky. That could be part of it. And as far as location on the quads, I'm going to assume you mean 3 parts one stacked on the other? Not length wise? In which case I may be hitting a little too low.

I think it is the stress u are going through at present. Probably causing inflammation and/or E2 sides.

Are you massaging the area after you inject? I always do that, and have never had any redness or bumps or swelling...even on virgin muscle.

sounds normal to me.. you are poking a hole in your muscle and injecting oil into it... were you expecting it to be painless with no irritation?

quads and pins overall are hit and miss. some quad shots im limping for days, others im good after a day. all same gear.. unpredictable sometimes.

never do that, you are NOT going to force the oil in, just cause more pressure and more tissue damage and irritation.
go inject a steak with oil, then press the shit out of it, onlything you will get is maybe more tares where the oil pocket is.
the shot needs TIME to absorb .

maybe hot water over the area to bring more blood flow to a sore muscle. but i wouldent be pressing on it or massaging it IMO

Hot shower on target muscle that is affected will bring in all kinds of blood flow.
If injured or something you can add an ice pack after the heat for immediate relief.

I've always pinned in my glutes. Been doing it for 3 years without any issues other than a slight soreness for a day or 2, every once in a while. I use a 23g 1" needle.

I've been poked in my delts and glutes more times than I can remember, no pain...actually, there was 1 time when I had a slight bruise and the nurse apologized the following week when I brought it up, even though there was no way she could've predicted that THAT spot would be 'sensitive'. So, no...I was not expecting pain and irritation like I've had ON and OFF depending on the day.

Did right quad 2 days ago. I feel a little pain at the site but nothing like what my left quad went through. No irritation (Redness) and no lump.

I DO massage (I thought everyone did) after injections. The nurses always did a quick rub in after the injection. I'll stop. With my last injection I actually took a bath AFTER the injection and I think that might be why there's so little pain.
