I know there are so many but i was just wondering a good brand name belt i should buy that is durable when doing weighted dips, pull ups...was wondering what you guys use...been using the gym belt but the weights constantly hit me in my nuts, i finally came ot my senses and decided to invest in one so that i could avoid this problem.

I have one of these, once you get used to the stiffness of it you quickly realize just how good it is.

For someone who has never used a belt, what are the advantages of a constant width one vs. a "bodybuilding" tapered belt? And buckle vs. lever?

for one you dont need to tighten the belt so much that you cant breath..should be snug and provide enough resistane to push your abs out into it..with the BB belt theres not enough space to allow you to give a good push..

Ive always agreed with NS when it comes to belts but when i first came here i took advice from Dawg and got a belt and use it in the way i described..however i almost never do deads with the belt though..use it for GM's working sets for squats and i always make sure to use when im doing BB curls :insane2: j/k

so thats why my belt sucks ass when im tryin to lift heavy....i got a BBers tapered belt....dammit...gonna hafta get me an inzer lever belt

Hmmmm, I have a little $15 Nike belt from Academy......the velcro kind. No more than I use a belt, this suits my purposes just fine.

when you get older and the weight goes up you will come to need a good belt . if you use a belt like blackbeard describes above where its snug but not TIGHT and instead of relying on the belt to support you like when its tight push out against the belt with your abs to create the tightness you are still useing your core but your also creating a pressure in the whole upper body which supports and protects . to many people think that a belt has to be cranked down so tight you cant breathe to do any good , hell if i cant breathe i damn sure cant lift well . the belt is to assist you not do the work . :)
