What's your take on Hack Squats?

I decided to take a week off barbell squats this week and did some Hack's. Knees are a little sore.

My ? is how low do you go when doing them?

What's a good rep range for quad mass?

the thing i like about hacksquats is that you can go deep.

I say go as low as possible till your hams touch your calves.

Why dont you try a 1 set of 20reps that should fry your legs, i know i wouldnt be able to walk for a few days after that :-0

Waz up bro. Things are picking back up. You were right got back together with the woman, she came back. Kinda sucks that my appetite and training and sleep is great now that shes back. Wish it could be good either way.

I took those Hack Squats pretty deep. Especially on my 3 warm-ups. It seems to also take a little stress off the knees goin deep. Man theres no-cheatin doin Hack's. My thighs feel great. Im definitely going to try 20 repper. What set should I do that on maybe 2nd or 5th?

Thanx SC. I really didn't know whether to keep them high or low. I kept em a little low and actually as im sittin here resting my knees are a little sore.

I like doing them though. I think im gonna go one week hacks one week free.
 
I did hack squats as part of 3 supersets along with leg extentions and leg presses. I'll do this 3 or 4 times a year for a shock treatment. you know you hit your legs hard when it hurts to walk for 2 days.
 
Greatest quad builder for tall people imo. But as stonecold said, you have to keep the feet up, mine were always half off the platform, do two sets of twenty to start your leg workout and you should be puking. I don't mean twenty where you get twenty either.

Yeah Im 6 3 and i noticed your quads get fried with Hack squats. Shit 20 reps ill keep a bucket next to me cause im sure ill be pukin.

Are you sayin do 2 sets of 20 reps then maybe two more of like 12 or so or just two sets of 20?

When you guys are talking about Hack Squats are you talking about the machine similar to a sled on a 45 degree angle? Or are you talking about the barbell exercise like in the pic Tafman posted?
 
I was referring to the hack squat machine. Also I'll change feet position (toes in, toes out) and stance (legs close, legs apart, feet high on the platform, then low) to hit the quads differently.

My quads feel fried today. I finally got the feeling like ive been waiting for. All i did was 5 sets Hack's, 5 sets leg extensions, then 3 sets hypers 2 sets calve raises.
