Who Knows You Are On HRT?

While traveling on business this week, an associate of mine started talking diet, training etc. behind closed doors. A few minutes into the conversation, he says, "this stays between us, but my doctor told me I have low T and he is giving me 3 testosterone injections over the next 3months."

He then went on to tell me he had his first shot a fews days ago and has been feeling great ever since. Twenty minutes later, 2 more associates came in and he gave all of the same "this stays between us" story. We went to lunch with 2 female associates and he gave them the same story.

For reasons unknown, I never mentioned to him I have been on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) since August, and by the time he was swearing his third group of listeners to secrecy, I was glad I didn't.

Since starting, the only person who knows my treatment protocol is my wife.

So I am kind of curious, but are you guys generally tight lipped about this or do you have a T-Shirt that says "I'm on HRT"?

First I bet you wanted to say 3 shots over 3 months your doc is an asshole & has no idea what he is doing to you.

Yup. Part of my dilemma is that I feel like I should give him the heads up that he's in for a rough ride, but during his conversations, he referenced two other people on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) that told him to have his t levels checked. I don't want to be added to that list of people, if you know what I mean.

Yea, sounds like the guy likes to blab. No need for you to be included in his stories. I have not told anyone as of yet.

There are only 3 people that know I am on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and only 2 know my protocol. My doc and wife know I am on and the protocol. One really close friend knows I am on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), but no idea on protocol. He only knows because the guy was suffering really bad from all of the symptoms of Low T. I told him to get that checked for low T. He then started asking how I knew all of this stuff. So, he got brought into the fold on it.

No one else will ever know as long as I can keep it that way.

I tell everyone, I am sick of hiding, its time people know the truth. testosterone is not bad.

this is the one i give them

Testosterones Bad Rep

Most people particularly women link high testosterone levels with antisocial, egotistical, and aggressive behavior. A study from the University of Zurich in Switzerland showed that testosterone promoted cooperative behavior. They gave women either testosterone or a placebo that the women thought was testosterone and measured fair bargaining behavior. A single dose of testosterone in women increased fair bargaining behavior, reduced bargaining conflicts, and smoothed social interactions. Women who took the placebo, but thought they were getting testosterone, behaved more unfairly and stubbornly. Testosterone promotes socialization; its bad boy reputation is an urban legend.

I tell everyone, I am one of those that don't care what people say. My kids like to watch my HCG shots even lol.

my wife, my local doc, a couple close friends and thats it! at work it would be bad if they knew, i work for the government and they would want copies of my scripts and all sorts of crap, non of thir business unless i keel over dead for some reason!

For a couple of months I was tight lipped about it to all but a couple of people. Now I'm all about it. Nobody around here dares start anything negative about it to me. It is a topic that I know a lot about. I have read many many papers, some even over my head. But I have self taught to the point of being a medical dictionary. I've found that most people are curious. Of course with double the T levels than the median male has has given me a lot of confidence. I find that people enjoy the new me.

My wife, sister and cousin know and 1 coworker.

Wife knows cause well shes my wife.

my cousin and sister know because they were over my house and i had the book "testosterone for life" sitting on the coffee table and they asked "wtf is that book for?" i then told them "hey remember my motorcycle accident?.. well yeah im on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) now." they were just like "ooohhhh... how long are you on it for?" to which i replied "for life". they already knew of the accident just didnt know i was on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) because of it.

Coworker, well former coworker knows cause he was on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and we were cool with each other. he was on andro gel and would ask me for advice on how to talk to his doc to get HCG and an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and maybe injectables.

I don't keep secrets - I'm totally happy with people knowing what I do. Maybe it's because I'm a really old bastard (61) and I've joined the age group where we talk about our ailments. For instance a guy I cycle and ski with has Parkinson's (early stage) and there is some evidence that increasing T levels could aid him, so it would be dumb if I wasn't open with him. The PTs at my gym are completely in the loop. My kids know what's going on. So the chances of ANYTHING being kept quiet are zero!

Starting to post a little more probably because I feel like being more involved.

I told my sister and her husband the other night over dinner. (Great dinner talk huh). My brother in law said that he gave me a ton of credit for talking about it (ED issues and all) and after that, I sort of decided I would probably tell all of my close friends and family as well as anyone else who might have an interest.

My reasoning 1) I am young and don't give a crap and 2) If I can talk about it and maybe help someone else or keep someone else from feeling lousy, I think I should. It has taken me feeling a bunch better on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to realize just how crappy I felt, and for how long too.

Just my .02

Its not just testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but I dont really think anybody needs to know my business on anything or any illness or condition. The people that know are the ones that need to.
