Are you kidding me? You CANNOT put BJ Penn in the same category as Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva would KILL BJ Penn. Skill, endurance, speed, attitude ... all things Silva excels far more then Penn ever will. You might have been better off asking who would win, Anderson Silva or GSP. I am a die hard Canadian loving GSP fan and I would like to say GSP would win that one and I would back him 100% but I wouldn't put money on it. Penn, wouldn't even make it out of the first round before Silva kicked and kneed the living fuck out of Penn.

okay, i agree with you ONLY to the extent that A.Silva would most likely win....but, i would GUARANTEE BJ Penn would not be "Killed"! c'mon now, we're talking about one of the best defensive fighters ever in BJ Penn, there's always a fighter's chance...but with BJ Penn, it's much more than that!

i hope BJ wins against GSP because penn is an asshole and GSP is a nice guy. i cant stand all the nice guy friendsy bullshit. penn will hug also but still, gsp is too gay for me. plus, he lost to serra and hughes.
and to the thread question, if you asked who would win in a fight Anderson Silva or God, I would pick Silva. i fucking love that guy, cant wait to see him beat the shit out of his next opponent. any word on who the next victim will be?
oh, and the only thing worse than fighters being friendly to each other is when that douche bag Goldberg says "this is what MMA is all about" when fighters are nice and/or respectful to each other. what a corny douche bag.

obviously with silva vs penn i'd take silva. But let's be real here...Silva has looked unstoppable at times...but he's also looked pretty vulnerable. i.e against Lutter...if Lutter had come in shape, he probably would have submitted Silva.
And also against Cote...Silva didnt really look that impressive.
I'm not saying he's not an amazing fighter...i'm just saying he WILL be beaten.

i think he was too comfortable that he could dominate cote so much that he let him stick around instead of going after him like an animal. then fucking cote hurts his faggoty leg and didnt give silva the chance to smash his face in. that was a disappointment and i hope silva learned his lesson.

The rumors dating back to last month were Thales Leites Vs Silva for the belt.. last I heard, thats still the word. Problem is Silva has been turning down fights.. wanting a longer break, etc..?? not sure why but have friends in the know and he turned down UFC95 headline and last I heard UFC 97 as well I think.. Thats why Stevenson and Sanchez are having to headline, Silva wouldn't fight.
While Penn beat Serra and Hughes, did you forget Hughes also beat Penn? Or that GSP beat Hughes twice, in a royal fashion? And that when GSP had his rematch with Serra he destroyed him; literally. While Penn's fight with Serra went 3 rounds for an unanimous decision ... couldn't even finish him. And in my opinion the Serra that fought GSP was a much better fighter then the Serra that fought Penn.
Now I'll admit that Hughes was no where near the fighter he used to be when GSP beat Hughes, not to mention GSP was that much better then before, but Hughes beat Penn around this same time just prior so that tells me that if Hughes can beat Penn but be owned twice by GSP, Penn better be training his ass off and better not be taking this lightly.
As for the comment GSP being too gay for you; so you like just a little gay, is that it? He's too much of a man for you?
Don't mistake being a nice guy for being gay; nothing wrong with being nice. Take a look at Wayne Gretzky, nicest frickin guy around and the best hockey player ever ... two traits that I'd like to be known for; the nicest person and the best at my sport. What about Randy Couture, nice guy and also good at what he does. He hugs and stuff, maybe not to the degree GSP does, but they are also different. What, you don't like the french accent, think french people are gay? Is that it?
GSP is able to turn a switch on outside of the fight and inside of the fight. You can't be that same person all of the time, in that zone 24/7. Cut the guys some slack, he's earned it.

Okay, that made me laugh.
How about let GSP strike you a few times and tell me if you wouldn't tap. Serra was smart, he caught GSP and he did not let up; he did not let GSP recover. GSP tried over and over but couldn't get rid of the wobbles and the on slaughter of Serra was too much. He panicked and tapped.
A mistake? Only GSP can answer that. But when he had his rematch, it was a different story and he took Serra apart and made him pay for it. Different game plan, more focused, wanted his belt back. How many of us can say we learned something and rose to the occasion like this.
You may not like GSP but guess what, he'd probably hug you anyways.
