Well homie needs a fix here, so help a bro out quickly eh?!:D Why? If it's only because caffeine makes one crave sugar, then I would say that it is optional rather than forbidden, wouldn't you? Or is there another reason? Atkins says stay away from it as well. Plus...Decaf tastes like shit. Even worse than regular.

Thanks for any replies fellas.

I wondered the same thing bro, and the way I heard it is that Atkins doesn't want you to put anything they deem "harmful" in your body during the diet. Just goes to show how ignorant some people are about caffeine. Also, it seems to me that 200 grams of fat/day is only slightly more harmful than a cup of friggin' coffee. Call me crazy. If you're Jonesing, I'd go ahead and do it if I were you.

Once begun it's as good as done brotha!:D:D

Really though, if people are recommending ECA while on it, then saying no hi-test coffee doesn't really make much sense to me.

Atkins recommended that people not use caffeine because he wanted to use his diet to break possible addiction, as well as lose fat, etc.

I am just finishing up my second stint on the Atkins diet, and ran a mild ECA stack this time. Near the beginning of the second week I quit the stack though, as I was feeling dizzy when I'd stand up.

I feel your pain, bro. If my diet dictated that I avoid coffee, I think I'd slit my wrists!!

caffiene can stimulate insulin release through its mobilization of glycogen... raises blood glucose

once glycogen stores depleted (full ketosis) there should be little issue with caffiene use (in theory)

thats what i was thinking on the blood sugar issue with caffiene

Most of us do, yes. Has no affect on staying in ketosis. The diet has evolved some since Duchaine and McDonald wrote their books.

Yep, thats true. Once you use up your glycogen store its a way to replenish it. Most people seem to stick to 25-30g carbs.

Some people just compromise and take in 75g carbs per day or so, or have a carb up every 4th day.
