went to the Gym and a fellow that is prepering for a show or phot shoot who looked great was drinking what looked to be crystal light

Lo and behold I took a wiff and there was not much but enough alcohol in there enough to be what I would say was shot mixed with the crystal light

he stated that that there was use for small amount of alchohal when getting ready

he also said that he woudl just have small amounts after a workout, or in the Pm times not in the AM....

the way I looked at it is that it was kind alike ibuprofin I know many who took small amounts beofore or after a workout to alleviate inflamation

I stated drinking a galss of red wine every night after I went to a party and I felt SOOO much better the next day

lo and behold since I started By BP has gone down

and also My sleep patterns are much better, and I seem refreshed the next day and ready to train
more so than without

I just thought it was worth mentioning, and it should not be such a taboo subject

I agree that it should not be such a taboo subject.

We're only here for one spin. When we're gone, we're gone.

I train extremely hard 3 days on 1 day off and during my training days I eat loads of protein and don't touch alcohol, but on my off days I usually enjoy about 6 - 8 vodka and oj's.

You gotta give yourself a treat now and then.

regards

maybe he was using it to slightly dehydrate him. This would take out some water from him. Just an idea

i actually participated in a study at my college on how alcohol affects metabolism...the results concluded that consuming more than 4 alcoholic beverages (mixed drinks containing more than one shot of alcohol, or simply taking four shots) can significantly impair metabolism for up to 3 days. for those individuals with higher metabolisms, this might be seen as a benefit, allowing them to add weight by slowing down the normally high metabolic rate. the only downside to this is that TOTAL cell function is repressed, resulting in slower-than-normal protein synthesis (a big negative for training) and inhibiting muscle repair. i can honestly say that i felt like shit while performing the study trials; my 1RM went down and cardio seriously suffered. (however, i was also getting wasted every 3 days!) so, if you plan on drinking, i would say take weekends off and get trashed friday night!

good post strngth...moderation is the key..remember we put alot of stress on our organs already, alcohol just adds uneeded stress to liver. I've known guys..that use to make a coctail of sorts...little alcohol, couple of asprin, and a couple of efedrin, really get the heart racing in order to drop weight.

interesting topic

i would say stay away from alcohol if you are using gear that
is very harsh on the liver

alcohol would also slow down your metabolism
however if you had to pick an alcohol--i choose
the vodka, tequila etc...it has no carbs and no fat

Very interesting and it totally backs up everything I've been led to believe.

i drink about 1.25+ gallons water ed. when i do have an alcoholic beverage(very seldom) i can expect to lose lots of water weight. one drink can be resonsible for a few trips to restroom.

Interesting, I think if ur serious about training why mess with alcohol

Beer is my weakness, I'm trying to cut it way back. I'm usually bombed to some degree every other weekend. Not proud of it at all. Hard to say no to a party. :-(

I love beer, and I love vodka. Hell, I love to drink, but drinking disturbs my sleep patterns, adds unnecessary and useless calories to my diet and sometimes I break out in trips to taco bell. Can't do it when I'm getting serious. I gave away 20 bucks worth of craft beers away the day before my diet started *sniffle*

Damn another old bumped thread. Seems to be a pattern lately. Anyhow, I'm an alcoholic. One drink and I can kiss bodybuilding goodbye. And everything else for that matter.

Red wine, in moderation, has many other benefits....including cardiovascular benefits. I drink two glasses per night. It helps me tolerate many things, not the least of which are kids.

Every one who has looked into kevin levrone pretty much knows he and Ronnie coleman would have coffee and vodka the night before a contest for diuretic effects it had. Im sure you have to balance it out right though. Its not something easy to do. Me personally I love drinking and what I learned about it is that if I do not control my drinking I can not drink. Because I will make horrible decisions and fuck my life and body up. So basically as long as I can pace my self a couple times a week I can be ok.

I look at alcoholism and drug addiction differently than most people. I see it that alcohol and drugs are addictive by nature and that we are all some what addicts because the substances have addictive qualities. Some people have the ability to stop at a certain point. But if some one takes it to a certain level in life for example drinking for a month straight every day and getting drunk. I feel like it phycologically fucks with a person and makes it a lot harder to have moderation after abusing something. Because you will never be satisified by a small amount of that substance. So that is how I look at addiction. It doesn't make my view right though. Lol I deffinetely get addicted to things very quickly and have a problem choosing to stop. I can stop but it is me wanting to stop that is the problem.

I'm right with you there man. I can get addicted to things very easily. I know I want to stop, and have to stop, but it's difficult for me to just suddenly drop something and stop. It sucks hey.

I haven't even drank in over 9 months.... Lol im living the clean and sober life! but jacked out of my fucking mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
