Always do your cardio AFTER weights!

^^No prob bro.

I'm just passing tru today.. No disrespect intended DocJ :)
None taken...I actually agree with your last posts (except one part). I just didn't want anyone to think that they were in a "fasted" state after taking BCAA's. However, I don't see how concentrate (with lactose) could affect BG less than an isolate (no lactose) regardless of the fat content.

After all exercise.

The point of a 're-feed' would be to stave off catabolism.

The catch-22 is that a refeed could spike insulin.. ceasing the release of fatty acids. i.e. You'd stop burning fat.

Whey.. because of it's speed of digestion and assimilation... and it's high content of gluconeogenic amino acids, will spike insulin.

You'd be best served hitting some ephedrine between the weight-training session and cardio.. or some BCAAs

Save the whey for post-cessation of all exercise.

Hold it...are you talking about a weight workout followed by a cardio session in a fasted state? If so, I believe a protein drink (even whey) or at a very minumum BCAA's is needed to prevent muscle loss. If you're recommending a "re-feed" only after the entire workout has concluded in a non-fasting state then I'd agree.

It is quantitative...

Fats affect the BG response.

But like i said in the post above:

In the real world, the difference between two types of whey (re: BG effect) isn't much however.
^^the difference is miniscule.

This was in reply to your post stating that:

If one is using any of the "filtered" type whey I doubt a spike would occur.

^^Which is incorrect. 'Filtration' won't change the nature of whey.

Whey will still be whey... and thus insulinogenic.

..Thus not suitable for ingestion during the interim between a weight-training session and cardio...for the above reason.

You're over-reaching Doc.. My response was clearly in response to Aczech's question.

I clearly recommended the "re-feed" after the entire workout has concluded.

LOL! Point taken...just remember that it's going to be low intensity, 60% or so and your heartrate is already elevated so keeping it going on a treadmill isn't going to take much. Personally, I can put the speed on 2.5 and the incline at 3.0 (or lower) and it works great.
Shit, I can just hop into the wirlpool and my heartrate will be up for another hour :)

LOL! Point taken...just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same situation. I wasn't saying you were wrong...I was the one confused :insane2:

great post Doc,

i think the main point is:

It is BETTER to do CARDIO AFTER lifting weights. People ALWAYS ask that question...

I love doing a bit of cardio after weights... it always felt right to me... kinda a natural flow... but when i'd do cardio and follow it up with a lifting session it would ALWAYS suck.
