A recent study found that when subjects drank beet juice they were able to exercise 15% longer than when they consumed a placebo.
Scientists believe that this is a result of the high content of nitrates found in beet juice being converted into NO. The NO then helped their muscles work more efficiently and slowed the rate at which those muscles used up available energy.
