Deadlift workouts

As far as juicing is concerned, I'm bigger natty than many guys I know who are on the juice. No disrespect to those that do take roids, but I'm in no rush.

I always worry about guys that beleive WSB is to complicated to follow. Yes, it is more complex than a traditional progressive resistance format. To complicated to do? Can you do math or follow directions using a map?

One day each week for speed work for squats and bench

One Max effort day for squats and bench

Accessory work for your weak points.

No more than 4-5 lifts per workout.

Change your ME lift every 1-3 weeks

Speed work at 45-60 % of you max bench and squat

Do GPP if so inclined

Damn thats rocket science--lol

Progressive resistance works fine for many, it fails many. I progress about twice as fast doing WSB than traditional. Others may find the opposite. They both work well, but too complicated? C'mon, and the public hinks PL'ers and BB'er are meatheads, no wonder....

I beleive most of us here lift because we tuly love to lift, thats pretty simple. I find WSB LOTS more enjoyable than doing the same old lifts week in and out. Your mileage may vary.

no one laughs at the new guys. we all started somewhere. in fact the new guys get the most attention generally at local meets by the expereinced lifters. do a meet. you will never regret it. nothing kicks up the training better than training for a meet.
i think you will find that powerlifters as a whole are some of the most helpfull and generous guys to compete against for any sport . ive seen guys loan a shirt to somebody when their shirt tore and the guy loaning the shirt pretty much knew that he would get beat by the guy useing his shirt . its man against steel for most of us not man against man and we dont want the steel to beat any of us :)

Pullinbig or DADAWG, 2 followup questions?

1. Do you guys train abs directly or do you rely on deadlifts/squats to work them?

2. MY deadlift max is 405 right now. Basically what I'm asking, is if I were to go sign up for a powerlifting meet, and I definitely wont' win with the numbers I can do, is that still fine? I mean, I definitely won't place, but are there others that are there pulling small amounts of weight compared to others in the same weight class?
I mean, some guy who weighs maybe 250 lbs, can only deadlift 315, should he still do a meet even though hes' definitely not gonna come anywhere near placing?"

I don't know anything about powerlifter meets, and would like to learn as much as possible about it. I think it would be alot of fun, I just don't want to be laughed at when trying to pull half the weight someone else my size can pull lol.

NO ONE luaghs at ANY lifter at ANY meet. Everyone is supportive at every meet, regardless of the lifter experience level. Go to your first meet wether as a perticipanr or spectator and you will be hooked!

So, even if someone is lifting half what others lift, and don't place or whatever, even if they bench like 250 lbs , everyone is very supportive?

That's cool man. I would love to talk to the experienced guys, it would be dumb of a new lifter, or even intermediate, or even hell an advanced, to not listen to others.

I teach all of my clients how to do deadlifts. I see maybe one person do them a month in my gym. Fucking pussy music in the background doesn't help. Deadlifts are the best.

For those of you that have done olympic lifting too, are clean and jerks harder than deadlifts? Do they compare in cardiovasular? I've heard people say olympic lifting is alot harder cardio wise.. Is this true compared tod eadlfits/squats?

Put your reading glasses on and read my post just above (quoted for your reference below):

The gut is definitely exacerbated via heavy squatting and deadlifts. There ARE many though whose shape and symmetry are enhanced since squatting/DLs are beneficial in more ways than they are detrimental to the gut. Case in point is Needsize: check out his midsection.

Can you decipher that or should I write it in simpler language bro ?

if you'll look you'll see that my post is before yours (time wise) so i didnt get to see yours before i posted. in other words it wanst posted yet. if i had read it I wouldnt have posted. i handle the english language OK for a redneck, but if it aint there i cant read it.

i know that i am just a mear grain of sand on the beach compared with your vast knowledge of all things. but i do what i can and try to be helpful. its tough at times with guys like you though. you got all the answers with very little experience. fire away cause i have responded for the last time to your posts. if we ever talk again it'll be face to face.

I have been merely responding to your posts. I am the first to admit that you have much more lifting experience than the majority of us including myself. Since some of us are older than the rest, more experience in the gym is a given; nevertheless, there is no doubt about that. I have also at numerous times credited yourself and others for helping me out personally. I have also PMed you thanking you for the help as a gesture of goodwill.

Having said that, childish remarks such as if we ever talk again it'll be face to face do not merit any respect. Its laughable when you consider that such remarks are coming from a 46 yr old man typing on an internet forum.

Respect is a two-way street my friend. If you expect respect, then you should conduct yourself with respect towards others. Other than lifting, I too have experience in a vast number of domains; but I don't care to spell these out since there is no point in doing so.

Having said all that, if I have offended you in any way, I apologize.

Rgds,
T
