The Big Dawg and I are the same age now. I caught up to him.

We need to formulate a plan to show these youngins whats up!!

We need a uncle zed to sponsor a contest. Maybe a bench pressing contest.. Most reps with 225 using good form wins a prize? Must be filmed

I'm going to bet that we have a few old timers on here that will come close to winning if they don't straight out win!

Plan it for mid spring when everyone is on cycle? lol

I am going to talk to Heavy and Mike Arnold about it and see what they think
I'm down. Time to show up the old fellas. I'm almost 27 so I guess I'm with the not so old team!!

Under 30! You are on team Youngins!

Have to be 45 and up to be on the old man team!!

I've seen a few of these contests before and we can expect the first place winner to probably hit between 30-40 reps with 225.

Holy Shit Zeek!!! continuous? or you plant to take 5 min between each rep?
Sorry couldn't resist!!
Id be lucky to squeeze 10 out and they wouldn't look pretty!!

Ya well i can do that off cycle bro!! Lol

The guy that won the contest I am thinking of did 40 of them. Massive guy that maxed well into the mid 500's raw.

He was somewhere between us in age group..like 35

That is about when I was at my strongest also, 35ish

I was gonna say you prob can throw up some weight. Just from the way you know the sport. Or maybe your talking out you ass. Or maybe both!! Haha

The man has to have 4E wide shoes from decades of heavy squatting. That in itself tells you that the man has been messing with serious weight for a long time.

Lets be clear that was not me!!! wish it was though :)

Even in my prime I never got near 40 reps with it.

He did 40 clean reps, all the way down touch your chest and then back out to full lock out position x 40

bte the guy is not a member here and I don't plan on telling him about the contest, assuming we even get it off the ground
Keeping his back flat on the bench using perfect form and control

im RETIRED but even in the day i doubt i could do near that many reps , i think we got stupid one day and did squats for high reps one time [ vaguely remember lol ] and thats probablly the only time i ever did over 10 reps in my life.

I know you don't like to brag DAWG but your statement tells the story though for those that know how to read between the lines. Never over 10 reps in his life = serious power lifter :)

Now that I think about it it may not have been 40 reps that won that contest but 30 reps that won it.

I found this on youtube and it was an NFL record at the time of filming....40 real reps. Looks like most of them are to lock out also which makes a huge difference!

Now there are people doing many more 1/4 and half reps but that shit don't count. We can all sit and bounce a bar 2-3 inches off our chest till it hurts :P

Check this video.

Do you guys believe in the 10 lbs added to the bench per rep = the persons potential max?

so 225x 10 = 325 max?

225x40 = 625?

well i was strongest last year about this time, shortly before i had shoulder surgery, after that, all has went to shit, and done got to old to make it up:Playboy:

i definately believe it depends on how you train , if you train with reps you get good at them .

That is true Dawg but on the flip side of that coin does being able to do more reps at a certain weight also raise your max? I'm sure it does some but not sure the 10 pounds per rep rule really applies over a certain amount.

It is on the money for the lower rep ranges though.

If a guy at my gym can rep 275 x 5 you can almost bank that his max is going to be right at 325!

Weird how that works.
